SORRENTO VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - A Marine veteran suffered major injuries after a wrong-way driver crashed into him on I-5 early Saturday morning.Friends have identified the victim as Luis Maldonado. He was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. His service dog Jax, who was also in the car, was taken to an animal hospital and is expected to survive.The wrong-way driver died at the scene. California Highway Patrol suspects he was under the influence of alcohol. He has not been identified.Maldonado's friends have set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for the mounting medical costs.  622

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that he supports President Donald Trump's decision to contest the results of the 2020 presidential election, despite there being little evidence of widespread voter fraud.In a speech on the Senate floor, McConnell said Trump should be given the right to exhaust his legal options to challenge election results before conceding to Biden."We have the system in place to consider concerns, and President Trump is 100% within his rights to look into allegations of irregularities and weigh his legal options," McConnell said.McConnell's statements Monday signal that top Republican leadership will back the Trump administration's decision to continue to challenge the 2020 electoral process, despite there being little evidence of widespread fraud.The Trump administration has filed lawsuits in states in which he's projected to lose or which are still too close to call, including Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania. SOMER, Wis. -- A couple from the Village of Somers, Wisconsin was forced to leave their home because of erosion.The house is teetering on the ground above Lake Michigan.Tom and Marge Lindgren were sitting in their kitchen last weekend when they heard a loud crash. "I heard a crash and jumped up. I looked out and the porch went crashing down.I ran up packed a bag and my wife packed a bag and we grabbed the dog and got outta here," said Lindgren. Shoreline erosion along Lake Michigan has been a problem for decades.Some homeowners invest in heavy rock barricades to fight the high waves.Lindgren received a 0,000 estimate to stabilize the bluff, but it's a price he can’t pay."I lived here as a kid. SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea announced that it has test-fired a new type of tactical guided weapon. The Korean Central News Agency says Chairman Kim Jong Un observed the firing of the weapon Wednesday by the Academy of Defense Science.The agency reports that Kim said “the development of the weapon system serves as an event of very weighty significance in increasing the combat power of the People’s Army.”The agency says Kim mounted an observation post to learn about the test-fire of the new-type tactical guided weapon and guide the test-fire.The announcement came after reports of new activity at a North Korean missile research center and long-range rocket site where the North is believed to build long-range missiles targeting the U.S. mainland.The White House said it was aware of the report and had no comment.The Associated Press could not immediately and independently verify North Korea’s claim. 925
