SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Sharp Grossmont Hospital secretly video recorded 1,800 patients using hidden cameras at the women's health center in El Cajon, according to a lawsuit filed late Friday afternoon.The recordings took place between July 17, 2012 and June 30, 2013 inside three Labor and Delivery operating rooms at the facility located at 5555 Grossmont Center Dr. in El Cajon, the plaintiffs claim.Among the video recordings captured by hidden cameras: Caesarean births, hysterectomies, sterilizations, dilatation and curettage to resolve miscarriages, and other procedures, according to court documents.Women were also recorded undressing, the lawsuit says.According to court documents, the hospital claims the recordings were part of an investigation "into whether an employee was stealing the anesthesia drug propofol from drug carts in the operating rooms."The suit states that the motion-activated cameras were installed on drug carts in each of the three operating rooms at the women's health center, but the cameras continued to record after motion stopped. Multiple users, including non-medical personnel and strangers, had access to the recordings on desktop computers, the lawsuit claims, and that Sharp “did not log or track who accessed the recordings, why, or when."“There are images contained within the multitude of images of women undergoing operations of a very personal, private nature, unconscious and in states of exposure depending on the operation being performed,” the lawsuit cites an unnamed Sharp executive as saying.“Plaintiffs suffered harm including, but not limited to, suffering, anguish, fright, horror, nervousness, grief, anxiety, worry, shock, humiliation, embarrassment, shame, mortification, hurt feelings, disappointment, depression and feelings of powerlessness,” the lawsuit claims.Plaintiffs believe Sharp destroyed “at least half” of the recordings but cannot confirm the files are not otherwise recoverable. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego’s Skyride reopened Wednesday after a ‘”gust of significant wind” caused the ride to close in mid-February. According to SeaWorld, the park, along with the ride’s manufacturer and the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health inspected various parts of the ride over the last several months, including the towers, gondolas, ride cables and various other equipment. SeaWorld says the ride’s communication cable was also replaced. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego State University set a new record for its Aztec Rock Hunger annual food drive, collecting 590,503 pounds of food from Sept. 28 through Oct. 21, which the school will now donate to the Jacobs & Cushman Food Bank. The amount exceeds last years total of 588,915 pounds, and includes both non-perishable foods and  donations, which the school collected at the SDSU bookstore, athletic events, SDSU Dining locations and Aztec Proud events. Jim Flores, CEO of the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank, said the partnership with the school, which has raised more than two million pounds of food since its inception in 2008, has been beneficial."We are very grateful to the students, faculty and administration at San Diego State University for supporting the food bank," Flores said. "We are currently feeding more than 37,000 people every month in communities throughout the county, including thousands of students through our College Hunger-relief Program." Aztecs Rock Hunger was started by Associated Students (A.S.) which works alongside multiple campus groups, including SDSU Athletics and the College Area Business District. Christian Onwuka, A.S. vice president of financial affairs, said the partnership is a source of pride. "It has been amazing to see so many different divisions and facets of campus come together and give their all toward this campaign fighting food insecurity," he said. Not all of the donations will go to the food bank, however. 20 percent of the food remaining on campus will go towards helping SDSU's Economic Crisis Response Team (ECRT). The ECRT works to prevent food insecurity for students on campus, as well as provide emergency support for those in a sudden economic crisis.  1894

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego’s newest ride is shut down for maintenance, according to Cal/OSHA.According to the agency, Tidal Twister was shut down June 1, roughly two weeks after its opening on May 24. The ride was shut down to address mechanical issues. Cal/OSHA says SeaWorld is working with the manufacturer to repair the ride. The ride recently opened as SeaWorld works to complete more rides in the San Diego park. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Siblings are frantically searching for their missing mother, after she walked out of Hospital Angeles in Tijuana Friday afternoon, according to her family.Jessica Puente, 73, accompanied her daughter, Johnica, for a surgery. When Johnica woke up, her mother was gone. "First thing I was like where's my mom, where's my mom? And they were like we don't know where she went," Johnica said.After questioning staff, a security monitor revealed Jessica walked out while speaking with the security guard at 11 a.m. Jessica asked the guard where to exchange money, Johnica said. She thinks her mom was going to find something to eat."We'll leave no stone unturned in Tijuana," her brother said Sunday night. He and their other brother flew into San Diego over the weekend, from their Seattle home, to help with the search."We tried to call the consulate but they're closed, we um called all these hospitals, we even went to the morgue, they went to the morgue this morning to see if there are any unidentified bodies," Johnica said they filed a police report with San Diego PD, passed out fliers in Mexico and have been using their connections to churches to spread the word.Johnica described her mother as shy, and says when she gets tired, she can get a little confused. She said her mother liked to dress up with flowers in her hair, jewelry, "her jacket and her shoes, she always liked to match, even though she's almost 73." Jessica is not only a mother of three, but grandmother to a little boy and girl, both under 10-years-old.When we asked how Johnica was able to stay so calm while talking about her mother's disappearance, she replied, "I don't know I just believe that she'll come up.
