PARMA, Ohio — It's a story 30 years in the making.Shortly before graduating from Parma Senior High School in Parma, Ohio, Jim Biehl customized, purchased and started wearing his class ring.It was your typical class ring with a green emerald gem, a cross etched below the stone and Biehl's signature on the inside. But Biehl would only spend about one year with that ring. When he was 17 years old he went on a church trip to Michigan. During the journey, the group stopped in Parma, Michigan. Ironically, that's when he would lose that brand new class ring."I woke up one morning to move on to the next destination of our trip, the next leg, and couldn't find it," Biehl said. "Haden't seen hide nor hair of it since then."The then-teenager spent a couple of years searching for the lost piece of jewelry only to come up short each and every time.Biehl thought the ring was gone forever — until recently.Biehl said he was alerted to a Facebook post inside the Parma Senior High School Alumni Association. The post read, "Found class ring 1989. Jim Biehl call...." with a phone number and an email address. 1131

Over the course of four hours on Tuesday, 175,000 Starbucks employees talked about racial bias.Across the country, employees participated in a mandatory training. About 8,000 company-owned stores and offices were closed to customers for the afternoon. In self-guided groups of three to five, workers settled in for an intense afternoon.Groups moved at their own pace, but their discussions followed a similar structure. With the help of guidebooks distributed throughout the stores, workers took part in sensitive conversations. They watched videos featuring Starbucks executives and musician and activist Common. They reflected by themselves, in pairs and as a group, on the meaning of bias. They privately jotted down thoughts in a customized notebook outfitted with prompts about identity and race. They ran through scenarios that may elicit a biased reaction. They practiced welcoming behaviors, and committed to changing their habits for the better. 960

Police in Paris have fired tear gas and used water cannon against protesters on the Champs Elysées, in the center of the French capital. The "yellow vest" protests, which began as a campaign against rising gas prices, have morphed into a wider demonstration against the government of President Emmanuel Macron in recent weeks.Police say they have mobilized 3,000 officers in Paris to contain the 8,000 protesters. A security perimeter has been set up in the city center, with government buildings protected. Three people have been arrested so far.At a news conference on Saturday, French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner blamed the clashes on far-right extremists infiltrating the demonstrations."Today, the far right has mobilized," he told reporters. "The security forces perfectly anticipated this situation."Far-right political leader Marine Le Pen rejected the accusations, describing it as a "pathetic and dishonest" form of "political manipulation" by the government.Earlier Castaner said of the protesters: "Their freedom of expression will be guaranteed, but it must not be exercised to the detriment of security, public order and the right of everybody to come and go. There is no liberty without public order."Last weekend a protester was accidentally run over and killed by a car, and more than 200 people were injured during a demonstration in eastern France. 1384
