(KGTV) – A U.S. Forest Service firefighter was injured while battling a vegetation fire that has burned 10 acres in the Cleveland National Forest near the community of Alpine.The firefighter was taken to an area hospital for treatment according to U.S. Forest Service's Anabele Cornejo. No other details were available.Amid strong Santa Ana winds in the area Friday, a wildfire erupted in the Japatul Valley area of San Diego's East County.The blaze was reported just before 1 p.m. Friday near the 21000 block of Japatul Road, southeast of Alpine, according to the California Highway Patrol.According to the CHP, dark smoke was visible from the agency’s Interstate 8 viewpoint. The CHP also noted the strong winds swirling in the area.Cal Fire San Diego said the fire went on to burn at least 10 acres as of 1:55 p.m., but good progress was made in the firefight thanks to crews on the ground and aerial water and retardant drops.No evacuation orders were issued, but residents in the nearby area were told to shelter in place as a precaution.With Santa Ana winds whipping in the county’s inland and mountain areas, a Red Flag warning was in effect until early Saturday morning. 1186
(KGTV) - A San Diego County psychiatrist who reportedly had offices in Chula Vista, San Ysidro, Kearny Mesa and El Cajon was in custody Thursday on suspicion of sexual battery and having sex with a patient.Leon Fajerman, 75, was charged with five counts in an arrest warrant issued Wednesday.Among the charges was a violation of Business and Professions Code 729(a), which details that any physician, psychiatrist or counselor who has sexual relations with a patient or terminates a relationship with a patient for the purpose of having sexual contact is guilty of sexual exploitation.In September 2017, court records showed that Fajerman assaulted three female patients, including one who said he groped her breasts and buttocks, according to the Union-Tribune.The complaints were turned in to the Medical Board of California. Fajerman surrendered his medical license May 15, 2018.Fajerman received his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires and had been in practice for more than 20 years, according to US News. 1033

(KGTV) -- A San Diego woman’s mother is missing following a solo trip to Zion National Park in Utah, according to CNN.Holly Courtier hasn’t been seen or heard from since October 6 when she embarked on the trip.Courtier was dropped off at the park by a private shuttle bus and scheduled to be picked up the same day, but never returned, KABC reports.Courtier’s daughter Kailey Chambers told the station her mother is an experienced hiker. (CNN) -- Two suspects escaped from a Northern California jail early Sunday, the Monterey County Sheriff's Office said.Santos Samuel Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, were being held in the Monterey County Adult Detention Facility awaiting trial on unrelated murder charges, the sheriff's office in a message on Facebook. The two face other felonies, authorities said.The sheriff's office didn't say how the men escaped, but they said the means of escape is under investigation.The pair had been in custody since 2018. (KGTV) — A Los Angeles-area police pursuit ended late Tuesday with a suspect breakdancing as officers held him a gunpoint before being arrested.The chase took California Highway Patrol officers through the San Fernando Valley after the suspect failed to yield to commands to stop, according to ABC-affiliate KABC.Officers pursued the suspect over the 101 Freeway, north on the 405 Freeway, and then east onto the 118 Freeway.As the driver slowed in the Pacoima area, officers were able to enact a PIT maneuver and spin the suspect's vehicle out.The driver exited the vehicle and began walking backward toward CHP officers. But before turning himself over, he stopped and began breakdancing in the street, as officers kept their firearms trained on the man.After a short dance, the man surrendered to police without incident. 832
