SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego family just got bigger thanks to results from a recently taken DNA test.Sita Brooke and her brother, Odie, met their sister Eva Knight for the first time Friday. Brooke's father, Jim, was also on hand to meet his daughter.Brooke told 10News she purchased a DNA kit from Ancestry.com for her parents last Christmas to learn more about her family's origins. Knight, from Arizona, had also taken a DNA test recently.A parental match popped up for both of them.Brooke's dad served for 33 years in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Trinidad at one point, where he met Knight's mother. And the sister's have even more in common. Knight is also originally from San Diego before moving to Arizona.The family members are now enjoying their newly discovered connections. 800

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Point Loma woman said a man took photos of her chest as she was walking into the Ralphs grocery store on Rosecrans Boulevard on Tuesday morning. It was around 9 a.m. when Julie Buerckley noticed a man standing by the entrance and as she got closer she says he began snapping photos on his phone.  "He was taking pictures of me but it wasn't of my whole body, it was just of my chest," said Buerckley.Buerckley told 10News she ran inside to tell someone, but by the time employees came out the man was long gone. She said there's no telling how long he'd been there or who else he'd taken pictures of. "I'm worried about kids getting pictures taken when their parents aren't paying attention and stuff," Buerckley said. "That's what I'm worried about."She described the man as being tall, and wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.  906

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A power outage was reported Thursday at several buildings on the San Diego State University campus. The outage started about 3:30 p.m. and impacted Hepner Hall, East Commons, Administration, Physical Sciences and the Faculty Staff Club, SDSU reported online. An hour later, campus officials said the outage was caused by flooding the basement of the Physical Sciences building.By 5:17 p.m., power had been restored to Hepner Hall, East Commons, Adams Humanities, Administration and the Faculty Staff Club buildings. Crews were still working to restore power to the Physical Sciences building.“Facilities Services is aware of the issue and actively working to restore power,” the university posted. “If you are in or around the impacted buildings, please remain where you are, and in a safe location,” officials requested. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A priest in the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego was suspended Tuesday as church officials investigate allegations of sexual misconduct with a girl in the 1990s.Father Justin Langille, 65, initially faced the claim in the mid-1990s for an act which allegedly occurred with a female teenager earlier in the decade, according to a news release from the diocese.The case was examined in 1995 and 2002, but the diocese concluded that the allegation was unsubstantiated after Langille passed a polygraph test, church officials said.Last month, the case was brought before the diocese’s Independent Review Board as part of its process to review files about the sexual abuse of minors by clergy.“I felt strongly that even older, previously decided cases involving currently serving priests would benefit from being examined by the Independent Review Board,” said Bp. McElroy. “The voice of the laity needs to be heard on these matters and the independent board, with members that include attorneys, criminal investigators, psychologists and a clergy abuse victim, provides the diocese with exceptionally valuable guidance and expertise.”An investigator revealed significant new information that substantially undermined the credibility of Langille’s denials, the diocese said. Church officials did not provide details about the information.The diocese spokesperson did not have information about whether San Diego Police had been contacted.If the Independent Review Board determines the accusation is not credible, Langille may be returned to ministry, according to the diocese.Langille has not had a full-time assignment in the diocese since 2013, officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diegan who was killed in the mass shooting at the Borderline Bar was honored Thursday on the anniversary of the attack, both in Coronado and Thousand Oaks.Justin Meek's family attended a large public dedication ceremony for the Healing Garden in Thousand Oaks, a park and permanent memorial site with 12 stone slabs representing the victims."It's not that we are moving on, but that we are moving forward," Meek's father Roger said in an interview.RELATED: Coronado native among victims of the Thousand Oaks bar shootingMeek, a promoter and occasional security guard at the bar, broke out windows so others could escape when gunfire erupted last November, according to family members.
