(KGTV) - A local man got a big surprise from a 10News viewer when he arrived today at a South Bay auto body shop."It's unbelievable.  I'm so appreciative," said 84-year-old Frank Dabalack.Last week, 10News reported on how a con man left Dabalack with a costly mess. A man showed up at his San Carlos home and offered to fix a dent in the back of his car for 5.FRANK'S STORY: Scammers targeting drivers with disability platesDabalack says when the work began, the costs nearly tripled. The dent never got fixed, and the man did end up causing more damage before taking off with Dabalack's check, which he stopped.Police told 10News the scammer was likely targeting seniors with disability plates.When Denise Marquez saw the story, she was spurred into action. Marquez just sold Marquez Auto Body, a 55-year-old shop first opened by her parents - and plans to retire at the end of the year. She's not taking new customers except for one man."Seeing him being take advantage of makes me very angry. Wanted to help even more. I want him to see the legacy of my mom and dad. (KGTV) — Police say they rescued a kidnapping victim this week, after the man was able to signal for help through a car's cracked window as the suspect tasked with guarding him slept.Sunday night, a 36-year-old man was attacked by two men and thrown into a pick-up truck while walking to his car from a restaurant in the 600 block of Broadway, Chula Vista Police said.Police said the suspects took the victim to a second location near Sequoia St. and Presidio Point Ct. and handed him off to a third suspect waiting in a parked car. While the suspect in the front seat was supposed to be watching the victim in the backseat, he fell asleep instead, police say.Police say that's when the victim was able to signal for help, waving a white cloth out of a slightly cracked open window in the backseat. A passerby spotted the victim flagging for help at about 11:30 a.m. Monday and called police.Police arrived and rescued the man and arrested the sleeping guard.That's when the suspected pick-up originally used to abduct the victim drove past, police said. Police say they arrested one of the two men inside the truck who they believe to have been involved with Sunday's incident.Police are still looking for a third suspect.The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, police said, but it didn't appear the victim knew the kidnappers.The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the ordeal, police added. 1470

(KGTV) - A woman was found unconscious and bloody outside a Chula Vista laundromat Friday night.Paramedics responded to reports of an unconscious woman at the Coin-Op laundromat near Broadway and F Street just after 9 p.m.The woman had apparently been beaten and left on the sidewalk on the side of the strip mall.Ivonne Campos, who works at a nearby Mexican restaurant said her bosses saw the woman as they were leaving for the night.Campos came over to help the woman, who she believes is homeless. She called 911 and said the woman was able to talk but did not explain what happened to her.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodVideo shows the woman being placed in an ambulance, bloody but awake. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A man wanted on suspicion of killing his wife Sunday is believed to be on the run in the San Diego area, police said.The suspect was identified as Francisco Uriarte, 37, who is suspected in the death of his wife at an apartment in the 500 block of Oxford Street, according to Lt. Dan Peak of the Chula Vista Police Department.Chula Vista police were called to the address at 1:38 a.m. Sunday after a report of a domestic violence in progress, Peak said."Upon arrival, officers located three children at the residence," Peak said. "Officers were told (by) the children their mother and father had been in a physical fight."The children also told officers their dad had fled the scene and believed he killed their mother during the fight," Peak said. "The children were not injured from the incident and are currently safe in protective custody."The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of her family, Peak said."Francisco should be considered armed and dangerous," Peak said. He was last seen wearing a large black overcoat, shorts and flip-flops, he said.The suspect is also believed to have significant injuries to his hands and may try to seek medical attention, Peak said.Uriarte is 5-feet-9-inches tall, 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, Peak said. China said Friday it will temporarily reduce tariffs on imports of American-made cars as it tries to negotiate a trade deal with the United States.Citing the meeting earlier this month between US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, the Chinese Finance Ministry said in a statement that it will remove the additional 25% tariffs on car imports from the United States for three months starting January 1. That will bring China's tariffs on American-made cars to 15%, in line with those for cars made in other countries.China also said it would suspend its 5% tariff on 67 other auto parts.China imposed the additional tariffs on US cars in July and on some auto parts in September as part of its retaliation in the trade war between the two countries.At their meeting in Argentina, Trump and Xi agreed to a temporary truce while they try to negotiate a broad trade deal over the next 90 days.In its statement Friday, the Finance Ministry described the decision to remove the tariffs as a "concrete action" aimed at helping to bring about a "mutually beneficial new Sino-US trade order."Xi pledged in April that China would cut tariffs on imported cars this year. His government delivered on that promise in July, reducing import taxes from 25% to 15%.But just days later, China imposed new additional tariffs of 25% on American-made passenger vehicles as the trade war with the United States escalated.The tariffs hurt profits of major automakers that ship cars to China from the United States.
