Two men are in jail after police say they stole a car -– with an infant inside.About 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a business in Boise, Idaho.“Evidence indicates that a car had been left running outside of a store, when it was stolen by two men,” according to a Boise Police Department news release. A 6-month-old infant was in the car when it was stolen. A parent pursued the car, until the driver stopped several blocks away.“One of the men exited with the child, who was still strapped into the infant car seat.  (The parent) safely took the child from the man. Thankfully, the child was unharmed,” the release stated.The suspect, later identified as Raymundo Gutierrez, 23, of Boise, was detained at the scene until officers arrived.  The other male fled in the stolen vehicle, officers said.Gutierrez was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with accessory to grand theft, a felony.About 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Boise Police received information that the stolen vehicle had been recovered in Canyon County -- and the driver, later identified as Robert DeShazo, was booked into the Canyon County Jail. He’s charged with felony possession of stolen property and driving under the influence, a misdemeanor.  Authorities said both suspects could face additional charges.          1396

Two brothers who threatened to stop cooperating with prosecutors in the case against actor Jussie Smollett have changed their mind. In a statement issued Thursday, an attorney representing Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, said that two who have admitted to helping Smollett stage a racist and homophobic attack against the Black are ready to testify because a gun that went missing after police found it in their home had been found. Smollet is charged with lying to police about the “attack” that authorities say the actor staged to gain publicity for his career. The actor has maintained his innocence.Smollett's charges were filed by special prosecutor Dan Webb, who was appointed to the case after Smollett originally had his charges dropped by the Cook County State’s Attorney Office .The prosecutor's announcement of dropping the charges last year drew ire from Chicago Police and outgoing Mayor Rahm Emanuel.Smollett allegedly filled a false police report, when he told officers that two attackers shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him.The Osundairos were originally arrested for the alleged attack, but were later cleared of charges after police claimed that Smollett paid the men to stage the attack. 1222

(KGTV) — Body camera footage shows the chaotic moments northern California police officers jumped into action to help save animals from a shelter in the path of the Nelson Fire.Vacaville Police officers were called in to help evacuate animals from the Solano SPCA animal shelter Saturday, as flames threatened the shelter.Video shows officers racing into the shelter and pulling animals from their cages. (KGTV) - The 12-year-old survivor of a plane crash in Valley Center is praising her uncle, the pilot who died in the crash.A smiling photo of Raquel Contreras was taken moments before her uncle, Peter Bierle, a seasoned pilot, took her up in his single-engine, experimental aircraft on an early Sunday evening. They were above the home of her friend for a birthday flyover when it happened. More than two weeks after the crash, Contreras spoke to us from her hospital room. She says some neighbors got an early warning."The plane hadn't even crashed, and they were getting ready because they heard engine failure," said Contreras.RELATED: Pilot killed, 12-year-old girl badly injured in small plane crash in Valley CenterA traumatized Contreras didn't want to talk about the crash, but her family says her uncle told her to, "Get down low and hold on."Witnesses saw the plane dive toward the yard, away from buildings, before it crashed."I want to honor Uncle Peter. It's amazing what he did, and I wouldn't be here if he didn't land and crash like he did," said Contreras.Bierle died at the scene. Dozens of neighbors rushed to the plane, burning fuel nearby."Just want to thank everyone on Palomar Vista Drive ... Amazing how everyone came together in the end," Contreras said.Contreras was cut out of seat belt and rescued. That seat belt was a 4-point harness belt, courtesy of her Aunt Connie."Right before the flight, she put in a new seat belt and checked my buckle," says Contreras.The last-minute addition may have saved her life. Raquel was hurt badly, with injuries to her eye and spine, and fractures to her skull, sternum, and hand.Two surgeries later, a determined Contreras is now beginning her long road to recovery."We've just been taking steps slowly and steadily," she said.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help the family with expenses.The NTSB has yet to release its initial findings on the crash. 1954
