SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police confirmed Monday the arrest of a Yuma, Arizona police officer on suspicion of rape.Yuma Police officer Jared Elkins, 33, was taken into custody Friday morning on Marlborough Dr. near Adams Ave. in Kensington.San Diego Police said Elkins was off duty at this time of his arrest. He is a 7-year veteran of the force, the Associated Press reported.  Yuma Police are working to place Elkins on administrative leave.Elkins will be charged with rape, oral copulation, threat to do bodily harm, sex asault with a foreign object, and misdemeanor sexual assault, police said.Elkins was released on 0,000 bail Saturday and ordered to appear in court on Sept. 25. 709

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect wanted for shooting and killing a 27-year-old woman.Police say Robert Reed reportedly shot Sylvianita Widman during an apparent road-rage incident on the 100 block of Meadowbrook Drive at 5:30 p.m. Monday.According to police, two cars were traveling north down Meadowbrook when they both stopped and the passengers got into an argument.RELATED: Woman dies after being shot in a Skyline intersectionWidman then reportedly approached Reed while he was in his car. SDG&E shut off power to thousands of North County residents Monday amid Santa Ana winds. Just after 9:30 a.m., the utility said service was turned off for 2,743 customers “to maintain public safety." Gavin Newsom said during a news conference that the county could be dropped from the list by Tuesday.Sunday, Aug. 16, was the fifth consecutive day San Diego County reported fewer than 100 positive coronavirus tests.State and county officials have said counties would be removed from the monitoring list if rates remain below 100 positive cases per 100,000 people for three straight days.Of the state's 58 counties, 42 remain on that list; five counties were added, with Santa Cruz County falling off Aug. 14."This is a dynamic list. People come on, people come off, the numbers shift every single week," Newsom said Monday. "I anticipate this week the numbers to shift again and it looks like, all things being equal and the latest reporting period -- 24-hour reporting period, which we will have later this evening -- it's very likely San Diego will join the list of those counties removed.
