The Coca-Cola Co. says it’s laying off 2,200 workers, or 17% of its global workforce, as part of a larger restructuring aimed at paring down its brands.The company said around 1,200 of the layoffs will occur in the U.S., with around 500 of those eliminated in Atlanta, where the company is based.These layoffs come after the beverage company offered buyouts to about 4,000 employees in August. The burned remains of a Michigan woman have been identified by authorities as Susie Zhao, 33. Zhao played poker on the national competitive circuit. Zhao's body was discovered near a park in a Detroit suburb on July 13 around 8 a.m."The female subject was badly burned," according to a press release from White Lake Township Police."Surprised, confused, and saddened," said her former roommate Yuval Bronshtein. "It's hard to picture her having enemies."Bronshtein said Zhao bounced between cities including Los Angeles and Vegas and recently moved back to Michigan to be with family to be with her parents and to confront challenges in her personal life.She was an avid poker player and a national talent on the competitive circuit."She really was a excellent player," said Bart Hanson, a friend and poker rival. "One of the best in L.A. at the level we played at the Commerce Casino and it's the biggest poker room in the world."Authorities said a motive is unclear. The Daily Mail released leaked footage of the fatal Memorial Day arrest of George Floyd, who died while in the custody of Minneapolis Police.The Daily Mail did not indicate how it received the leaked body worn camera videos of the arrest. Several media outlets have sued prosecutors in order to gain access to the body-worn camera footage from the officers."The prosecution team is not the source of the leak. We will continue to take the strictest precautions to ensure a fair trial," Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison said.The Daily Mail said the footage was taken from the body cameras of Thomas Lane and Alex Kueng. Lane and Kueng along with Derek Chauvin and Tou Thao were fired as officers and criminally charged for Floyd’s death. Chauvin is facing the most serious charges, which include second-degree murder. The other three former officers are being charged with aiding and abetting a second degree murder. Chauvin was the officer that held a knee to Floyd’s neck for several minutes, leading to his death.The footage shows officers pointing weapons at Floyd in order to get him to exit his vehicle and put up his hands. The video then shows Floyd pleading with officers not to shoot him.“I'm not going to shoot you,” Lane says.The footage showed Floyd in an apparent struggle with officers as officers repeatedly asked Floyd to sit.As Chauvin laid on Floyd’s neck, Floyd could be heard telling officers, “Tell my kids I love them. The Chardon (Ohio) Fire Department is investigating a school bus that was on fire overnight in the district's bus lot.Shortly after 5 a.m. on Thursday, an employee arrived at 355 Maple Avenue, where the bus lot is located, and noticed a bus had been burned in a fire. As a precaution, the fire department extinguished any hot spots. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, but they said they believe it was set intentionally.A few other buses were parked nearby the burned bus, but they appeared unscathed.   575

The global pandemic has changed what “work” looks like for millions of people, and those changes could become permanent, according to workplace and hiring experts.In a report from Glassdoor looking at job trends in 2021 they remind people that moments of crisis, like the coronavirus pandemic, can present risks and opportunities.Some companies have already announced long-term work-from-home opportunities, are embracing mental health and culture-building initiatives, and are scaling back in-person meetings and positions that are in-person focused.Part of the report focused on jobs Glassdoor predicts will either not exist or will be drastically different in the future because of the pandemic.In 2021, lower-skilled service jobs, education jobs, administrative office roles, sales roles and discretionary healthcare jobs could start disappearing. These findings are based on job listings from October 2019 to October 2020, and noticing trends of decreasing job postings during the pandemic that do not show signs of bouncing back.Some of those jobs specifically include beauty consultants, valets, pet groomers, event coordinators, executive assistants, receptionists, sales product demonstrators, product or brand ambassadors and even sales managers.In education, the higher ed system “is facing an overwhelming financial crisis due to falling enrollment and mandated campus closures, and these jobs may not return for a long time.” That includes college professors and instructors, according to Glassdoor.In healthcare, while frontline workers like doctors and nurses are in high demand, other positions are not as some health needs are being postponed or canceled altogether.
