SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Reverend Sandra Dority knows the dangers of heart disease, the top killer in San Diego County."My sister just passed from a heart attack in December, and my mom had congestive heart failure," she told 10News this week.That's why the 74-year old makes sure to eat right, exercise and, above all, know her numbers."My blood pressure is 116 over 74, and that was after a five mile walk on Saturday," she says.Dority tells everyone she can to know their numbers. It's a message she says is especially important in the black community, where the prevalence of heart attacks, stroke and high blood pressure are higher than normal."We have to change our lifestyle," she says. "There is a better way to live, because the numbers aren't changing unless we change."Dority was one of the first people to join LiveWell San Diego in their Love Your Heart campaign, which offers free blood pressure screenings at hundreds of locations across the county. She brought information to her church, Mount Moriah Christian Church in Mira Mesa.Now, she volunteers at blood pressure screening events, helps run educational sessions, and makes sure pastors talk about heart health from the pulpit every Sunday."God is love and he wants us to reach out and let others know there's a better way to live. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County has served Pacers Showgirls International with a cease and desist order in violation of health orders days after San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham was stabbed outside the strip club.The county's letter says the Midway District strip club was allowing "live entertainment," like exotic dancing, "in violation of the Order of the State Health Officer and County Order of the Health Officer and Emergency Regulations."Under the county's current tier for California's pandemic guidance, San Diego County restaurants are allowed to operate outdoor in-person dining and indoor in-person dining at 25% capacity, but live entertainment is not allowed.The county's letter says if the strip club doesn't suspend its entertainment, it can receive a misdemeanor citation and ,000 fine for each violation. The facility could be ordered to close as well.The order says the violations were reported after Pham was stabbed in the parking lot outside the strip club on Sunday night.San Diego Police said Pham was involved in an altercation. He is expected to make a full recovery.Pham said the experience was, "very traumatic and eye-opening experience for me, I’m on the road to recovery and I know I’ll be back to my offseason training routine in no time."Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to call SDPD at 619-692-4800. 1370

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Ricardo Silva, a Chula Vista native, has it in his blood to both serve his country and join the medical field.He had multiple family members join the military and as a San Diego local, he grew up around the Navy, so he became a sailor about ten years ago. Growing up with a mother who was a nurse, it makes sense that he and his sister followed her lead. His sister now works for the Public Health Department and he’s working at Naval Hospital Bremerton in Washington with the preventative medicine team as a contact tracer for COVID-19 patients.He and his team have worked days as long as 18 hours since the start of the pandemic, figuring out where patients contracted the virus.“It’s very very detailed, trying to figure out where they got it and how to try to prevent that from happening for the next person,” he said.Naval Hospital Bremerton has screened more than 35,000 patients as of July 30.“As I do this work, as tough as it is, when this is all over I just want to be able to say I did my part to help get through this,” he said. 1067
