NEW YORK (AP) — Mall owners Simon Property Group and Brookfield Property Partners are close to a deal to buy department store chain, J.C. Penney, out of bankruptcy and keep the chain running. Penney's lawyer Josh Sussberg announced the tentative pact, which will save roughly 70,000 jobs, during a brief hearing in bankruptcy court Wednesday. More than 600 stores are expected to be saved, USA Today reported.According to the Wall Street Journal, Simon and Brookfield will own about 490 locations and a group of lenders will own 160 stores.Sussberg noted that a letter of intent including details of the pact will be filed with the bankruptcy court the next day. NEW YORK (AP) — A tentative deal has been reached to settle multiple lawsuits brought against the television and film company co-founded by Harvey Weinstein, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by scores of women.Attorneys involved in the negotiations told a federal bankruptcy court judge during a hearing in Wilmington, Delaware, Thursday that a breakthrough in a still-unfinished mediation had put a settlement within reach.The amount of the deal wasn't revealed in court, but a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press it was worth million. The person wasn't authorized to reveal details of the discussions and spoke on condition of anonymity."We now have an economic agreement in principal that is supported by the plaintiffs, the (New York attorney general's) office, the defendants and all of the insurers that, if approved, would provide significant compensation to victims, creditors and the estate and allow the parties to avoid years of costly, time consuming and uncertain litigation on all sides," Adam Harris, a lawyer for studio co-founder Bob Weinstein, told the judge.He cautioned that there was still "a lot of work here to do.""But," he added, "I personally am very optimistic."The size of the settlement was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.More than 15 lawsuits have been filed accusing Harvey Weinstein or the company of misconduct. NEW YORK, N.Y. – Legendary television host Regis Philbin has died at the age of 88, People Magazine and ABC News report.According to a family statement obtained by People and ABC, Philbin passed away from natural causes Friday night, one month shy of his 89th birthday.The statement goes on to say that Philbin’s loved ones are forever grateful for the time they got to spend with him, his warmth, his sense of humor and his ability to make every day into something worth talking about.“We thank his fans and admirers for their incredible support over his 60-year career and ask for privacy as we mourn his loss," the statement ends.For years, Philbin hosted “Live!
