A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the NBA in the death of Zeke Upshaw, who collapsed and died suddenly during the final minutes of a March 24 game.Attorneys Ben Crump and Bob Hillard filed the lawsuit on behalf of Upshaw's mother, Jewel at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on Wednesday. The lawsuit stems from a March 24 game where Upshaw, who played for the Detroit Pistons' developmental league affiliate Grand Rapids Drive, collapsed and entered full cardiac arrest. According to the lawsuit, for over five minutes, no life-saving measure was taken to address Upshaw's condition. Upshaw, who was 26 years old at the time, was then kept on life support for two days and then died. "When the otherwise healthy heart of a professional NBA athlete suddenly stops during a game there is absolutely no reason, in 2018, that his heart cannot be immediately restarted," Hillard said. "No attempts were made to save Zeke Upshaw's life. No CPR, no defibrillation, nothing. This is the tragedy of this case, Zeke should be alive today, the human consequences are difficult to quantify."Changes must come to the NBA and we are bringing the lawsuit to cause those changes. After two years of colossal wildfires, California is now a checkerboard of dangerous burn zones threatening to turn into mudflow disasters.Cal Fire reports a record 1.8 million acres turned black in the Golden State this year, from Redding to Riverside County.Meteorologists and first responders look at each coming rainstorm as potential disasters below slopes stripped bare by blazes."We're getting into situations we never planned for or foresaw," Cal Fire spokesman Scott McLean said. "But we continue to fight the fight."Homeowners and volunteers are also joining the battle, shovels in hand, stuffing bags with dirt, or sometimes sand, to build barriers against mudslides.Lauren Young filled up sacks on a dirt hill in Agoura Hills, one of the communities charred by the Woolsey Fire, which destroyed 1,500 structures and charred almost 97,000 acres."We are surrounded by mountains and it's beautiful, but this is something we have to get ready for," Young said as she took a break."We saw what happened in the Santa Barbara Montecito area, so we want to stop that from happening here."Last January, after the Thomas Fire burned 281,000 acres in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, a huge storm stalled in the mountains above Montecito.The bare hillsides lacked the vegetation to hold water and an ensuing mudflow killed 21 people. A woman -- barefoot and wearing what could be handcuffs -- repeatedly rang doorbells at a number of Texas homes before vanishing into the night.Now police in Montgomery County are trying to identify her and have released surveillance footage of her approaching a home.The grainy video, captured around 3:20 a.m. on Friday, shows a woman walking up to a house and ringing the doorbell. She's wearing a T-shirt, and appears to have some sort of shackle hanging from her right wrist."We were dead asleep in our beds. My husband was woken up by doorbell ring. It rang probably 20 to 30 times," one resident, who did not want to be named, told CNN affiliate KPRC. "He walked outside, no one was in sight.
