LOS ANGELES (AP) — A former business manager of Stan Lee was arrested Saturday on elder abuse charges involving the late comic book legend.Keya Morgan was taken into custody in Arizona on an outstanding arrest warrant after being charged by Los Angeles County prosecutors earlier this month.Morgan faces felony charges including theft, embezzlement, forgery or fraud against an elder adult, and false imprisonment of an elder adult. A misdemeanor count also alleges elder abuse.Authorities say Morgan sought to capitalize on the Marvel Comic mastermind's wealth and exert influence over Lee even though he had no authority to act on his behalf.Police say Morgan pocketed more than 2,000 from autograph signing sessions Lee did in May 2018. Authorities say Morgan at one point also took Lee from his Hollywood Hills home to a Beverly Hills condominium "where Morgan had more control over Lee."Lee's daughter said in a request for a restraining order last year that Morgan was manipulating the mentally declining Lee, preventing him from seeing family and friends, and trying to take control of his money and business affairs.Attorney Alex Kessel has said Morgan has never abused or taken advantage of Lee. Kessel said in an email on Saturday that he had been in contact with prosecutors to arrange for Morgan to surrender on Tuesday."It is unfortunate that the DA and police did not honor our commitment to surrender next week and arrested him," Kessel said in an email.Lee died in November at the age of 95.Morgan's bail has been set at 0,000. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Adopters from across North America will travel to LAX Sunday to welcome some very special new members of their families — dogs rescued from the Chinese dog-meat trade.Two flights will arrive Sunday carrying a total of 27 canines, who will find loving homes in the United States and Canada thanks to the efforts of No Dogs Left Behind — a nonprofit group that rescues dogs from slaughterhouses, dog meat trucks, wet markets, and illegal dog traffickers.Eighteen of the dogs are beagles, and they'll be staying with fosters who work with The Beagle Freedom Project, which is sponsoring the flight along with NDLB and New York-based Rescue Paw Foundation.The remaining nine dogs have already been adopted. They were chosen via emails, phone calls, and even video chats, and will be greeted at the airport on Sunday by their new families, including some who have waited almost a year to meet their new furry friends."It takes a special person to fall in love with one of these sweet survivors over pictures and videos," Brandy Cherven, NDLB's president of adoptions and transports, told City News Service. "They never gave up on their dogs, and we are forever grateful to them. LOS ANGELES, (KGTV) – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced that the agency is offering ,000 for information on the whereabouts of stolen firearms believed to be in San Diego.Authorities with the bureau say 18 firearms were stolen from Turner’s Outdoorsman in the early morning hours of May 1.Officials added that one person is already in custody for the theft, but that ATF is asking for help identifying the location of the guns.“Firearms theft from licensed gun dealers is one of the top priorities for ATF,” said McMullan. “Experience shows these guns will likely end up being used in a crime. These guns in the hands of criminals endanger everyone’s safety. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - Surveillance video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a violent taco truck robbery that left a worker with injuries.Three men entered the truck as it was parked on West Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on July 14.Police said the men forced the workers to the ground and demanded cash.One worker was pistol-whipped during the hold-up. There is no word on his condition.The suspects were not able to gain access to the safe in the taco truck. They took the workers’ cell phones and cash before leaving, investigators said.Los Angeles Police said the men were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property. They were described as in their 20s with no distinctive physical features.Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD. 810
