NEW YORK (AP) — The operator of Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday, the latest retailer to do so during the pandemic. Ascena Retail Group, which operates nearly 3,000 stores mostly at malls, has been dragged down by debt and weak sales for years. In a press release, the company said they were closing all of their plus-size stores Catherines.The company also said in the release that they plan to "strategically reduce its footprint with the closing of a significant number of Justice stores and a select number of Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant, and Lou & Grey stores."It joins other retailers that have filed for bankruptcy in recent weeks, including Brooks Brothers, Neiman Marcus, J.C. Penney, and J. Crew. These retailers were already struggling with poor sales, but the forced closure of stores in March to reduce the spread of the coronavirus put them further in peril. NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio — Police in North College Hill, Ohio arrested an alleged cookie thief.Noel Hines, 31, is accused is stealing more than ,600 worth of Girl Scout Cookies. That's 400 boxes of Thin Mints, Tagalongs or Trefoils based on the 2018 price of per box.According to information from North College Hill police on Facebook, Hines took a large order of cookies to sell for a local troop on March 30. When it came time to turn in funds from cookie sales, the Girls Scouts of Western Ohio never received funds from Hines, according to court documents.The Girl Scouts organization and police officers attempted to contact Hines for six months regarding the payment. Police arrested her on Tuesday and charged her with theft. Hines is expected to be arraigned at 9 a.m. Wednesday."That's the way the cookie crumbles," police posted on Facebook. 874

New restaurants and hundreds of much-needed apartments could be coming to Poway's main road. But that proposal could also spell the end for Poway Fun Bowl, a longtime hangout for friends and local families. Fairfield Housing is proposing to buy the Alley's land and the Carriage Center strip mall next door - to build 216 apartments, 13,000 square-feet of commercial space, and a public plaza. The Poway City Council is holding an information session on Tuesday, and will give the developer feedback on the idea.Both the alley's owner and the mall management stressed that this is nothing close to a done deal, and that both have no immediate plans to close."Although people have expressed an interest in redeveloping the site, the owner is not currently under contract to sell the property," said Bobby Israel, the mall's property manager. Fairfield Housing didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.Casey Nezhoda, who owns Bargain Hunter's Thrift Shop in the mall, said there's been confusion among many of the mom-and-pop owners about what's next."Because it’s been kind of like a guessing game, of well, what’s going to happen with our shopping center?" she said, noting moving 7,000 square feet of merchandise would be a lot of work.But Andrew Weiss, who was shopping in the mall, said the project sounds like a good opportunity."This mall's a little bit old, so redevelopment would be nice, plus Poway's a great place to be," he said. NEW YORK, N.Y. – Barnes & Noble has warned its customers of a cybersecurity attack which may have exposed consumer information.The bookstore chain informed its customers of the attack in an email Wednesday night, but said their payment information and other financial data has not been compromised, because it’s encrypted and not accessible.However, the email obtained by CNN and Business Insider says the attack resulted in unauthorized access to company systems that do contain customers’ email addresses, billing and shipping addresses, and telephone numbers.The company says it doesn’t currently have evidence that this data has been exposed, but it cannot be ruled out at this stage in the investigation.The company says it learned of the attack on Saturday, Oct. 10.“We take the security of our IT systems extremely seriously and regret sincerely that this incident has occurred,” wrote Barnes & Noble. “We know also that it is concerning and inconvenient to receive notices such as this. We greatly appreciate your understanding and thank you for being a Barnes & Noble customer.”The news of the cyber-attack comes one day after the business experienced a “systems failure” that caused an outage to NOOK content.A spokesperson for the company told Business Insider that the attack was linked to the problems with NOOK and issues processing orders at its stores. 1388
