SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Employees at a Little Caesars franchise location in Logan Heights say their paychecks are bouncing and management is not responding to their concerns. The workers say the problems started in March, and they told 10News they've received paychecks, only to have them bounce a few days later and racking up banking fees every time. The employees 10News spoke to, from the National Avenue location, did not want to be identified. When they spoke out to supervisors, the employees claimed they were told to not to bother upper management. Other times, they said, they were left in the dark with no response. Employees identified the owner as Tony Bith, saying he owns at least a dozen Little Caesars locations throughout San Diego County. The one in Barrio Logan on Main Street is also closed; the National City Location on Plaza Boulevard is still open. 10News tried to reach Bith by phone but did not hear back as of the publication of this story. 10News also attempted to make contact with him at his home address, but could not access him because he lives in a gated community. 10News reached out to Little Caesars corporate to find out if they were aware of what was going on and they sent the following statement: 1243

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Firefighters in San Diego are rallying around a beloved firefighter suddenly in the fight of his life, after a cancer diagnosis."His nickname is 'Big Joe,' because he's bigger than life," said firefighter Russell Castillo.Castillo says Engineer/Paramedic Joe Odom, 49, is known as the light switch in a room."His smile lights up a room. His energy lights up a room. He makes everyone feel valued ... It’s our time to return that love," said Castillo.It’s been an emotional time for the 23-year veteran of San Diego Fire-Rescue. He recently discovered some swelling in his groin area. Doctors diagnosed him with lymphoma, cancer that begins in the immune system. He’s awaiting more testing for a prognosis.It comes as Odom’s wife Lisa battles serious health issues, including a lung condition and lupus."She’s giving me inspiration for what’s she’s been through," said Odom.Lisa is immunocompromised. Odom, as a paramedic on the front lines, has been trying to keep her safe, while still serving the community during a pandemic."It's scary for a lot of folks. I just want to be there, anyway I know how ... Just feel like I need be out there," said Odom.A help now on pause as he begins his cancer battle, and he’ll be far from alone."I feel like I'm in this dark places but God is bringing all these people to me," said Odom.Firefighters from Odom’s Station 26 in Oak Park have helped organize a fundraiser, including a meal train, along with countless messages of support."It's our time to show how much we love him," said Castillo."I'm speechless of the support I’m getting. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — For the first time in San Diego Zoo history, an echidna baby, commonly referred to as a puggle, has hatched at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Zoo officials say the tiny animal is estimated to have hatched on Feb. 14, 2020. Echidnas only breed once a year, before the mother lays an egg about the size of a grape and keeps it in a pouch in her abdomen. After seven to 10 days, a tiny puggle smaller than a jelly bean hatches. It attached itself to hairs within the mother's pouch, where it feeds on milk. Around six to eight weeks old, the puggle develops spike spines and the mother places it in a specially made nursing where she feeds it every three to six days.The puggle's mother, named Orange, and father, Shaw, also reside at the Safari Park. The tiny, spiny Australians species will spend most of its day sleeping, growing, and developing in its burrow.“We are thrilled and excited to welcome our first-ever echidna puggle at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park,” said Savanna Smith, wildlife care specialist, San Diego Zoo Safari Park. “It is an honor to care for this little one, as we learn more about this species’ reproduction through this puggle’s hatching. Mom and puggle are doing extremely well, and we will continue to monitor the puggle’s progress until it is ready to venture out on its own.”Echidnas are one of only two Australian mammals that lay eggs, the other being a platypus. They are notoriously difficult to breed in managed care, the zoo adds, making this even more momentous for the zoo.The sex of the animal has yet to be determined.It is expected that the young puggle will start venturing out on its own at about six to seven months old. Guests will however be able to see adult echidnas on occasion in the animal ambassador area in the park's Walkabout Australia habitat. 1827
