A Manhattan judge ruled on Wednesday that a bar can legally eject and not serve a customer for wearing a hat containing President Donald Trump's campaign slogan "Make America Great Again," the New York Post reported. The judge ruled that there is not a law against political discrimination. In January 2017, Greg Piatek was asked to leave the New York City watering hole The Happiest Hour because he was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat. Piatek claimed that a bartender told him that they do not serve Trump supporters. According to the New York Post, Piatek claimed in the lawsuit that the incident “offended his sense of being American.”Piatek's attorney argued that his client wore the hat to pay tribute to victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Piatek claimed he visited the 9/11 Memorial before going ot the bar. “The purpose of the hat is that he wore it because he was visiting the 9/11 Memorial,” Piatek's attorney Paul Liggieri said, according to the Post.   Attorneys for The Happiest Hour claimed that political beliefs are not a protected class. While Liggieri claimed that honoring the 9/11 victims was part of his spiritual beliefs, Judge David Cohen ruled that the hat is not faith-based.  1340

A metro Detroit restaurant is defending a viral video showing a brawl inside the Asian Corned Beef on Gratiot.An employee told Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit she was scared when things quickly got out of hand but says her boss and general manager did what they had to do.It’s a video that’s been viewed more than a million times. It was taken on a cell phone inside the Asian Corned Beef on Gratiot Saturday night.WXYZ reached out to the customer who shot the video. The customer did not feel safe talking, but we that we could use the video. The customer shared the video in Facebook, saying “Asian corn beef on Gratiot ghetto, the whole staff jumped on one person.”The video appears to show a customer arguing with employees, apparently because something was wrong with his order, before an all out fight breaks out.The district manager said they didn’t want to start fighting with the customer and told him to leave.It’s an incident the company said quickly escalated and they didn’t mean for it to get that far.The company said they told police they didn’t want to file a police report, and say they hope this incident doesn’t put a negative light on the restaurant. 1209

A tourist was stabbed while playing slots Monday at the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas.It happened shortly after 1 a.m. A man, who was visiting from another country with his brother, was approached by another man who asked him for a cigarette.The man then stabbed the tourist in his side with warning or provocation.The victim's brother chased the suspect but was unable to catch him.The suspect was later spotted by security guards at Four Queens. They called 911. A patrol unit then spotted the suspect near Fremont Street and Maryland Parkway and arrested him.The victim was transported to a local hospital and expected to be discharged later today, according to Watch Commander Lt. A nonprofit group dedicated to finding missing persons says they've found items that "brought a lot of interest" during their search for missing Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen.Guillen, a private first class soldier assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, was reported missing on April 22. She was last seen in the parking lot of her Regimental Engineer Squadron Headquarters on Fort Hood at 11:30 a.m.The Army is currently investigating whether Guillen was sexually harassed prior to her disappearance. On Tuesday, Guillen's family met with officials from Fort Hood and the Texas Criminal Investigation Command (CID) who said that they suspect foul play in her disappearance.A number of organizations have joined efforts to find Guillen, including Texas EquuSearch — a local nonprofit dedicated to finding missing persons.Tim Miller says this is the fifth time he and Texas Equusearch have traveled to search the area for Guillen."Areas that we've searched, we've cleared," said Miller. "If she would have been there, we would have found her."The search-and-rescue team has searched several areas in and around a 25 mile stretch between Fort Hood and the Leon River, looking for anything that could lead to Guillen."I'm not going to say we found evidence in the Leon River. I'm not going to say that. I am going to say we found some things that are being tested," Miller said. "So whether they have anything to do with the case, I don't know. There's certainly some things that brought a lot of interest."Wednesday's search brought them to an undisclosed location in Bell County."I can't say why we're here," Miller said. "We have a reason to be here. So we want to get these fliers out and maybe jog somebody's memory. Maybe that right call will come in. This is an area that's got to be saturated.
