The comparison showed more than 20 cases where income was more than what was allowed at the time.Representatives with the housing commission said it is possible for people to be above the limit.  "We also have less than a quarter of one percent of our families who may exceed the 80 percent gross income, and that's a natural progression,” said Azucena Valladolid, Senior Vice President, Rental Assistance and Workforce Development. “Over the course of the time on our program, they may have increased their earnings.”RELATED: San Diego City Council passes affordable housing ordinanceValladolid explained that federal regulations require the San Diego Housing Commission to provide rental assistance to those families for an additional six months before they transition them off of the program.She said someone working for the housing commission determines whether or not someone qualifies for the voucher program. San Diego (KGTV) One plate at a time, a San Diego couple is hoping to help those living on the streets with no food to eat. They’re using their new food trailer to do just that. ‘#FeedingEveryone’ is the goal for the Duwara Consciousness Foundation. “Our foundation is about serving anyone and everyone,” says co-founder Harisimran Khalsa. Through donations from the community, couple Davinder and Harisimran were able to purchase a food trailer to help feed the homeless. The couple says they’re committed to helping others. They left their jobs, sold businesses, and are now living a simpler lifestyle. “When your passionate about something, you have to live the life of and see how it is,” says Davinder Singh. “We decided that we would give up the house that we were living in.”The 16-foot trailer is equipped with a griller, 2 part stove, refrigeration and prep space. Every food item made is plant-based. Donations and volunteers strictly power the organization. They are serving at least two locations every week. They hope to grow the non-profit and eventually purchase a shower bus for the homeless.  The organization has partnered with the Jewish Family Service to feed the homeless on Thursdays and Fill-A-Belly to serve those in need on Tuesdays. SAN DIEGO (KGTV, CNS) - San Diego police were searching today for men believed to have stolen cell phones and a set of keys from three San Diego State students near campus, a university official said.The robbery happened Friday shortly before 12:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of Mary Lane Drive and Dorothy Drive.Police reported three phones and a set of keys were taken from three SDSU students. One of the students was taken to a hospital for further medical treatment. Gavin Newsom declared an emergency Tuesday over wildfires burning throughout California as the state's power grid operator pleaded for continued conservation to avoid rolling blackouts. The grid operator praised residents and businesses for astonishing conservation efforts that kept the power on Monday night. The state is in a days-long heatwave that has stressed the electrical system and resulted in rolling blackouts over two nights last weekend. Outages, excessive heat, wildfire and the pandemic have people on edge. Evacuations were in effect or growing in several Northern California communities because of growing fires. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — California fire authorities say Pacific Gas & Electric Co. power lines sparked the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in state history.Cal Fire said Wednesday the lines in the Pulga area ignited the Nov. 8 fire that killed 85 people in Paradise.The investigation also identified a second nearby ignition site involving vegetation and electrical distribution lines, also owned and operated by the San Francisco-based utility.The second fire was quickly consumed by the initial fire.Lynsey Paulo, a spokeswoman for PG&E, did not immediately comment.The fire in Butte County destroyed nearly 15,000 homes.The nation's largest utility filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January as it faced tens of billions of dollars in potential liability costs related to wildfires in 2017 and 2018. 823
