The celebration will pay special tribute to the USO in a performance produced by Ric Henry, a San Diego song-and-dance sensation. The musical review will depict the musical history of the USO from the 1940s to the present. Come January 30, the mall will roll out its 'secured parking plan' aimed at keeping non-shoppers from parking on the property.Customers can park free for the first two hours and then pay per additional hour, with a daily maximum of . While the parking stations have been in place for months, some mall employees say they were blindsided to learn they too might have to pay for parking. Mall officials say employers have the option of purchasing parking passes for employees. If not purchased by the employer, individual employees may purchase the passes themselves.“It’s another bill to put on top of the rest," said one employee, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of being fired. His employer will not be purchasing parking passes for employees. The anonymous employee says they were told daily passes will cost and monthly passes will cost .“Personally it’s 0 out of my budget each year to go to work, and that’s on top of car payment and insurance," said the employee.He's concerned for mall employees who only make minimum wage and cannot afford the extra cost. The executive director of SANGAG, Hasan Ikhrata, spoke Wednesday about the status of 18 intersection makeovers that include roundabouts similar one off Landis and Utah."It's obvious cars and bikes don't mix well together, especially if there's speeding involved so to overcome these we try our best to do things like this, but also make sure where we can, separate bikes from traffic so residents can bike without fear of being hit by a car," Ikhrata said.So far, million has been dropped for the Georgia Meade & Landis Bikeway project, funded by TransNet. Construction for the new additions are halfway done and although some neighbors aren't so keen about the new roadways, "people who want to go fast do go fast still, they still race. They have enough room to almost go straight through the circle." Others like 11-year North Park resident, Andrea, Linan, already feel more at ease, "traffic on this street especially, people go fast. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Downtown Central Courthouse plans to resume jury trials in two weeks after a six-month postponement during the shutdown, but there are concerns about the massive backlog of cases and keeping jurors safe. Non-jury trials are currently in progress through a remote virtual process.“I do have an incredible backlog, not only in criminal but also in civil cases,” said San Diego Superior Court Presiding Judge Lorna Alksne on Monday. So far, 900 jury duty summonses have been sent out for telephonic standby for in-person appearances in groups of 70 people. “The jury lounge [holds] 500 to 600 people but instead of that were going to bring in 70 [people and] socially distance them,” she added.Those people who are selected for jury will sit in courtrooms which have been retrofitted with protective measures like plexiglass barriers. Judge Alksne said there around about 2,400 criminal cases ready for trial that must be reset. Beyond that, there are thousands of other criminal proceedings to get to. “There's about 17,000 other things that need to be reset before they can even get to a trial,” she added.Civil cases are another obstacle. A spokesperson for the Courthouse confirmed that there are approximately 54,000 civil cases that are pending. There are about 2,800 that are ready to go to trial but Judge Alksne said Monday that civil jury trials likely won't resume until sometime in 2021.“The only way that I'm going to beat this backlog is if jurors come in for jury service so if you feel like you're able to serve, we would ask you to respond to the summons and come into court and help us get the jury trials started again,” she added.She noted that civil bench trials will start in mid-October and in-person arraignments will start on November 1st. 1792
