SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a mother and daughter killed by a YouTuber in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 805 filed a lawsuit this week against the teenager’s estate, the City of San Diego, and the County of San Diego. Eighteen-year-old Trevor Heitmann, known as McSkillet, drove his McLaren the wrong way on the freeway in August 2018, killing Aileen Pizarro and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. The sports car collided with the family’s SUV, which burst into flames. In their lawsuit, Aileen’s father Miguel Pizarro and son Dominic Pizarro cited the County and City for negligence resulting in death. The lawsuit cites an incident the day before the crash, during which the San Diego County Psychiatric Emergency Response Team responded to a call claiming Heitmann was “screaming, paranoid, and delusional”. A psychiatrist, Dr. Mary Rusher, told police she had evaluated Heitmann and he was “a danger to himself and to others and must be immediately detained on a California Welfare & Institutions Code 5150 hold,” the suit stated. Rusher also told a police dispatcher Heitmann had displayed manic symptoms and appeared paranoid, delusional, out of control, and threatened to harm his mother in preceding days, according to the court document. “Police left the home without any evaluation of Trevor’s condition, or notifying PERT, if they were not part of same (PERT),” the lawsuit says. The suit claims the police officers were not exercising their authority to place Heitmann on a 5150 hold in accordance with the law. Bahn Bao on Camino Ruiz, the staff is busy making steamed Vietnamese buns, days after an unappetizing discovery. "Scared, anxiety, disbelief," said Travis Nguyen, who owns the restaurant.When she got in on Thursday morning, she found loose change all over and the drawer of the cash register gone. The surveillance video revealed what happened. Just before 3 a.m., a figure is seen crouched low, shining a flashlight into the restaurant. After a few moments, the man pries open the door and walks in."It appeared he used a homemade tool to break the panic bar. It took him only a few seconds to get in," said Lon Holliday of Convoy Street Locksmith, the company that repaired the door.In the video, the man quickly heads to the cash register, removes the drawer and about 0 in cash."He knows what he's doing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Downtown Central Courthouse plans to resume jury trials in two weeks after a six-month postponement during the shutdown, but there are concerns about the massive backlog of cases and keeping jurors safe. Non-jury trials are currently in progress through a remote virtual process.“I do have an incredible backlog, not only in criminal but also in civil cases,” said San Diego Superior Court Presiding Judge Lorna Alksne on Monday. So far, 900 jury duty summonses have been sent out for telephonic standby for in-person appearances in groups of 70 people. “The jury lounge [holds] 500 to 600 people but instead of that were going to bring in 70 [people and] socially distance them,” she added.Those people who are selected for jury will sit in courtrooms which have been retrofitted with protective measures like plexiglass barriers. Judge Alksne said there around about 2,400 criminal cases ready for trial that must be reset. Beyond that, there are thousands of other criminal proceedings to get to. “There's about 17,000 other things that need to be reset before they can even get to a trial,” she added.Civil cases are another obstacle. A spokesperson for the Courthouse confirmed that there are approximately 54,000 civil cases that are pending. There are about 2,800 that are ready to go to trial but Judge Alksne said Monday that civil jury trials likely won't resume until sometime in 2021.“The only way that I'm going to beat this backlog is if jurors come in for jury service so if you feel like you're able to serve, we would ask you to respond to the summons and come into court and help us get the jury trials started again,” she added.She noted that civil bench trials will start in mid-October and in-person arraignments will start on November 1st. 1792

According to the agency, the man robbed a U.S. Bank located inside a Vons grocery store at 665 Saturn Boulevard. The suspect reportedly approached the teller and made a verbal demand for cash, telling the employee he had a gun. The man made off with an unspecified amount of cash. Pictures show the man wearing a hooded Padres sweatshirt and mirrored sunglasses. He is described as a white or possibly Middle Eastern man in his late 20s or early 30s.
