There will be a ceremony Sunday in Mexico City."If they [troops] come across illegal immigrants they'll have to apprehend them and take them to a facility to hold onto them until they decide what to do," Bee said, whether that's sending them back home or allowing them to apply for asylum.Mexico already ramped up pressure on migrants, by cutting funding to overflowing migrant shelters, "shelters in Mexico have less access to resources, they are receiving hundreds and hundreds more people than before. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Evacuations across San Diego County during large wildfires will look different this fire season due to the pandemic.Sean Mahoney, Regional Chief Executive Officer for the American Red Cross Southern California Region, said they've put together a plan for families that could be impacted by wildfires this year.Mahoney said it starts with the temporary evacuation points, where families can initially go after being evacuated. That is a place for them to safety wait until firefighters can get the fire under control and to receive information.Mahoney said buildings like community centers and libraries have traditionally served as temporary evacuation points, but putting people indoors now carries risk due to COVID-19.This year, the Red Cross has identified several possible temporary evacuation points that would be safer during the pandemic. Many are local school parking lots. Instead of waiting indoors, they will ask for families to remain in their vehicles until a Red Cross worker can attend to them."We would approach their window, we would have a mask, and we would get their cell numbers, and from that point on, we can use cell phones to give them updates," Mahoney said.Mahoney added they picked parking structures with shade so families can be more comfortable.In cases where families need to be sheltered overnight, Mahoney said they have two plans, depending on the situation."If there are just a small number of people displaced, we'll put them in hotel rooms we'll have Red Cross people in the hotels, and then we'll just have to adjust feeding them as well," Mahoney said. "It'll be much more costly, but we have a responsibility, and it's our mission to provide sheltering and feeding folks on the worst day of their lives, and we take it very seriously."In cases where they have to establish an overnight shelter, Mahoney said they would look to set up several shelters with fewer people at each one. Space and capacity would be factors."Certainly at the shelters, our staff will be wearing masks, and taking those precautions as far advanced cleaning and separating people and separating cots. According to a budget released by SANDAG, most of the funds will go towards transportation, not roads. The move has some throughout the county concerned that not enough will go toward roads in need of repair. “I'm pragmatic about it and I do worry about the fact that these tend to suck up all of the money and leave nothing left for highways,” said El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells.The concern comes after SANDAG announced “5 Big Moves.” The project focuses on the future of public transportation. Read all five points of the plan below: Complete CorridorsThe backbone of a complete transportation system that leverages technology, pricing, and connectivity to repurpose how both highways and local roads are used and managed. Complete Corridors would increase safety, capacity, and efficiency; provide dedicated space for high-speed transit and other pooled services; manage demand in real-time; and maximize use of existing roadways. Local roads are designed and operated to equally accommodate all users, including transit, cars, bikes, pedestrians, and commercial vehicles. Features may include dynamically managed curb space, transit amenities, bike facilities, pedestrian refuges, or smart intersection systems. Smart intersection systems would improve safety for all modes through use of sensors and alerts to vehicles and individuals, and could give transit priority treatments that make transit faster and more reliable. Wireless charging at parking facilities, intersections, and/or roadways will support future induction charging for zero-emission vehicles. Complete Corridors will provide connections to the Mobility Hubs network and infrastructure to support use of shared, on-demand Flexible Fleets. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Eight San Diego County gyms have filed a lawsuit against state and county leaders over the public health orders due to the coronavirus pandemic.The gym owners say that restrictions on their business by California and the county have caused, "difficulty in satisfying their financial obligations, having been forced to lay off a significant number of employees" and they have "expended large sums of money in an effort to comply with Defendants’ vague orders."Gym owners say they have lost tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, in some cases, retrofitting their businesses to be compliant with reopening measures.The Plaintiffs include Metroflex Gym in Oceanside, Ramona Fitness Center in Ramona, Boulevard Fitness in University Heights, Deadweight Strength in Grantville, Convoy Strength in Kearny Mesa, IB Fitness in Imperial Beach, and Being Fit in both Clairemont and Mira Mesa.The owners added that they have sought clarification of the orders and how they're enforced by law enforcement and the county, but have not received any clarification from officials.The lawsuit claims that public health orders labeling their businesses as nonessential without allowing them to challenge it, and mandatory closures, are not constitutional.Defendants include Gov. Gavin Newsom, all five San Diego County supervisors, and the mayors of each city where the gyms are located. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Eldahmy Wellness Pharmacy just received a shipment of test strip kits that can detect signs of COVID-19 in the blood."I usually compare it to the blood glucose machine," said Ahmed Eldahmy, an advanced practice pharmacist who owns Eldahmy Wellness Pharmacy's two locations in La Jolla and Barrio Logan. "Hopefully in the future this point-of-care testing will be available in every doctor's office, clinic, pharmacy."The kits are allowed by the FDA for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) as of March 31, 2020. Although he could not yet tell us the name of the company creating the kits, Eldahmy showed them to us and explained how they work to detect if signs of COVID-19 are present in the blood.RELATED: San Diego company gets FDA approval for 30-minute COVID-19 test"These are basically the antibodies that our test is trying to detect," Eldahmy explained while holding the test during a Skype interview. "We take a drop of blood and we put it in this spot at the bottom of the test. This is how we can figure out if the blood sample has the antibody component or not."He said it only takes moments to receive results."You leave it for about 5 to 10 minutes and it will tell you if it's positive or negative," he explained. "We’d rather do it at our location in order to give patients a little bit of guidance or direction.
