Body camera footage recorded following the Toronto Raptors' 2019 NBA Finals win shows that a California sheriff's deputy shoved Raptors team president Masai Ujiri prior to a scuffle that's led to a lawsuit.Ujiri's legal team released the video, recorded from the body-worn camera of Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy Alan Strickland on Tuesday.The video shows the Raptors team president reaching for his credentials as he attempts to walk onto the court to celebrate following his team's Finals-clinching Game 6 114-110 win over the Golden State Warriors in Oakland. BASALT, Colo. — Firefighters battling the Lake Christine Fire got a special treat Friday when Neil Diamond stopped by to perform “Sweet Caroline” and other songs for them.Diamond and his wife came by an Incident Command Post to meet and thank the firefighters who have been fighting the blaze, which was estimated at 12,588 acres Sunday evening. The fire is 82 percent contained.In a separate video, he points a finger at the firefighters.“Now, you have to save my house,” he said.Diamond has lived in the area for about 20 years.He said he wanted to thank the firefighters for coming to the area and lifting the heaviness in the community members’ hearts.“We know the cavalry is here,” he said in the video. “We say thank you of each of you.”  Watch the video of the impromptu concert here. 804

Brad Weldon grabbed a garden hose as the Camp Fire approached his house, spraying water to keep the flames at bay and protect his disabled, elderly mother inside.With fire on all sides, he went from one hose to another. When there were no hoses with water left, he picked up a bucket and started scooping water from his above-ground pool.He had stayed in Paradise, California, to protect his 92-year-old mother, who is blind and was unwilling to leave.With the help of a friend who is his mother's caregiver, Mic McCrary, Weldon fought the flames from the Camp Fire."There was times we were laying on the ground pouring the water on ourselves so we didn't burn," Weldon, 62, said.Did he ever think he was going to die?"Oh yea, of course, quite a few (times). Quite a few," he told CNN on Tuesday while looking at the damage to his yard and the horrific destruction to his neighbors.The water to the hose lasted four hours. He had more water in the pool. Getting in the pool was a last resort in case the heat and the flames came too close, but they ended up only needing it for the buckets.The house made it. He made it. Everyone is fine."It feels good to have it. I feel so sad for everyone though. Everybody I know lost everything," he said while crying for his neighbors.Five days after the record-setting blaze burned almost every home in town, Weldon, who is retired, is trying to stay positive.Weldon is hopeful his home can serve in the aftermath as an anchor for people to come to while they plan for rebuilding or whatever comes next.Weldon, his mother and McCrary are fortunate. Forty-two people died in the Camp Fire, and more than 6,400 homes are gone.Their house is remarkably unscathed, save for some scorching on the back of the work shed.Officials are still looking into the cause of the fire. They are investigating a report of a transmission line outage about 1 mile northeast of the town of Pulga, about 9 miles from Paradise.While the blaze no longer appears to pose a direct threat to Paradise, Mayor Jody Jones is concerned about marshaling resources for cleanup and recovery so people can return to what's left of their homes."My biggest concern is, do we have the resources to clean up debris and get safety hazards out of the way so people can get to their property ASAP," she said. 2315

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. -- A Brooksville, Florida elementary school gave all of its teachers pink slips on Friday, the school district said it's an effort to make the school better."It should’ve came from the school. Not have to hear the news through Facebook," said father Andrew Beck. Facebook is how he found out that all the teachers at his children’s school were given pink slips. The school, Moton Elementary, which is a "Double D" school and the lowest performing school in Hernando County.During a faculty meeting on Friday teachers were notified they would be done working at Moton after the school year. Tenured teachers are to be reassigned.The district says they made the announcement before the end of the school year to give non-tenured teachers time to look for other jobs.  "To see what many of them are going through right now, its heartbreaking," said Megan Oates, a former Moton teacher. Megan Oates and Bridie Jones both taught at Moton for more than 10 years before quitting last year."I no longer felt like I had the support that I needed to do my job," said Jones. Bridie Jones owns Lake Lindsey Mall and Deli where both teachers now work.They say they’re much happier without the stress and pressure they faced from the constant critiquing of teaching at Moton."It was a lot of stress. Every day you had a different administrator walk into your room. They were looking for a reason that Moton was a "D" school and they came in and picked us apart every single day," said Jones.But they say it isn’t the teacher’s fault. Jones says Moton needed help and more staff but the school district didn’t listen."As a teacher you're told, you don’t punish the whole class if something’s not working because it’s not fair to the ones who weren’t a part of that," said Oates.    The school district sent a letter home to parents on Monday explaining that the decision was made because the school was facing closure or state takeover. The letter states in short:“With a fresh cadre of teachers coming on board, Moton is positioned to return to a high performing school.”As for parents, they say they're concerned about the decision and just want what is best for their kids."I think it's bad for their education.
