Disney has narrowed down the opening dates for their Stars Wars expansions that are being built at both Disneyland and Disney World.The company announced on their Disney Parks blog that Star Wars Galaxy's Edge will open at Disneyland in summer of 2019. The expansion will open at Disney World in late fall 2019.The exact dates for the opening of both parks will be announced at a later date. They come just a few months before the yet to be named Star Wars Episode 9 is due in theaters on December 20, 2019.At Disneyland the massive expansion is being built north of Frontierland. At Disney World is being built at Disney's Hollywood Studios.The Disney World expansion is also being accompanied by a Star Wars themed hotel. (KGTV) - Vandals tagged two Catholic Churches in El Cajon with graffiti early Saturday morning, shocking parishioners."It's very devastating," says Father Daniel Shaba of the St. Peter's Chaldean Catholic Cathedral. "We fled persecution in Iraq, and here we are facing it again, in a place where we thought we wouldn't."Graffiti at St. Peter's, and also at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, featured swastikas, white power slogans, pentagrams, the Black Lives Matter acronym BLM, and the words "Biden 2020.""It was very confusing," says Father Shaba. "It had things that didn't have to do much with each other."Father Shaba found the graffiti early Saturday morning when he arrived at St. Peter's. He posted a video of it on twitter.Word of the vandalism spread fast, but help from the community came more quickly.By mid-morning, community members with power washers and paintbrushes helped Father Shaba clean up at St. Peter's. He told 10News everything had either been covered up or washed away by the afternoon and called the help a blessing."I'm very proud of them," Father Shaba says of his community. "We had an enormous amount of people come and see how they could help us in any way, shape, or form. But to also hold tight to Jesus."The Sheriff's Department confirmed they are investigating both instances. In a statement, they say no suspects have been identified, but there is "no tolerance for these crimes occurring in our communities."Father Shaba says surveillance cameras at his church caught high-quality footage of the vandals. During this pandemic, people aren’t interacting like they used to.Many schools have moved online, restaurants have moved outdoors, and public transportation is spacing out its seating.With less face-to-face interaction in the real world, scientists are now turning to artificial intelligence.“Robots are our friends,” said Jeffrey Krichmar, Ph.D., a professor of cognitive sciences at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).Recently, Krichmar’s team started testing socially assistive robots with the goal of helping people perform household chores, accomplish health care tasks and even offer them emotional support.“That could be very helpful if a person is impaired and can’t get help in the home because they’re locked down or quarantined,” he said.Krichmar says there’s a lot of societal benefits with this technology, too, like helping people cope with their feelings during isolation.“If I’m not able to get to you, but you have a robot there I can log on through the robot, have a conversation with you and then maybe do tasks around the house with a robot,” he said.Many of UCI’s robotic projects involve the Toyota Human Support Robot.“When you think about the social interaction, I think we’re all feeling this right now,” said Douglas Moore, Toyota’s director of technology for human support.Moore says working with UCI during the COVID-19 crisis could help many people both physically and emotionally.“One of the silver linings that I think we’re going to get out of this pandemic that we’re currently in, we’re going to develop a little bit more sympathy and empathy for the communities that idea with this on a day-to-day basis that have no real light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.Project leaders hope to get more of these robots in people’s homes“The ones that we’re doing with Toyota, they’re not commercially available yet and the ones that are a little pricey,” Krichmar said. “They’re like an expensive luxury car right now.”Krichmar believes more interest could help lower the cost of these robots and that more attention could create future innovation.“This pandemic is our Fukushima moment in a way,” Krichmar said of the COVID-19 crisis.“If this drags on a lot longer, it might be actually useful for this particular crisis,” he said. “But I’m almost thinking like the next crisis down the road.” 2338

DETROIT, Michigan — General Motors made a major announcement on Monday saying it will close two plants in metro Detroit as well as plants in Ohio and Canada. The plan will help save the company billion by 2020, according to GM.In a news release, the company said it will close the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant in Detroit and Warren Transmission Operations in Warren. Other plans closing include the Oshawa Assembly Plant in Oshawa, Ontario, the Lordstown Assembly in Warren, Ohio and the Baltimore Operations in White Marsh, Maryland.According to a spokesperson for GM, the plants will be unallocated which means they will no longer produce vehicles in those plants in 2019.
