INDIANAPOLIS -- The two men accused of shooting and killing a 1-year-old were at home playing video games at the time, the mother of one of the suspects said Wednesday morning.Darrin Banks, 27, and Brian Palmer, 29, have been charged with shooting and killing 1-year-old Malaysia Robson on March 30. "I want the detectives, I want whoever, to pull up Microsoft and see where they have logged in," Renee Sloan, Palmer's mother,  said. "You have dinged these men as murderers. You have put a tag on them as murderers, and they're not murderers."Robson was killed when gunfire struck her home on the 3500 block of Wittfield Avenue. Police have said it began as a dispute on social media. Someone then drove to the home and opened fire at around 2 a.m. Banks and Palmer face preliminary charges of murder and aggravated assault. "The whole community is talking about Darrin Banks and Brian Palmer," Sloan said. "Those are their names. They're not murderers. They're human beings and they have names. They did not do this. That is not in their demeanor. That is not how they work. That is not what they do. I want to have a voice for them. Everyone else has a voice but those two. I want people to know what type of people they are."The weekend after Robson was killed, the 1-year-old's grandmother helped organize a call for unity in the community and a march to reduce gun violence.For Robson's grandmother, it was a way to remember her grandchild and push for change so no family ever has to go through the same loss."For anyone with kids - go home and love your kids like never before," she said. Malaysia Robson is the youngest victim of a fatal shooting in Indianapolis since 2013. Everything from mental health issues to difficulty sleeping to cognitive problems.Doctors at Indiana University Health say there are several lasting effects from the novel coronavirus. Some of these symptoms have lasted up to six months after recovering from the virus.Dr. Sikandar Khan said 60% of patients have complained of a low quality of life, in his estimation.“Their stamina is not the same,” he said. “They get easily fatigued and they have a lot of pain in their body.”IU Health established their ICU Survivor Center in May in response to COVID-19, noticing there was a wide variety of lingering effects in their patients.“Even months out from surviving and going through rehab, patients are still dealing with a lot of rehabilitating symptoms,” Khan said. “And so for them, recovery is not just discharging from the hospital and feeling great again, but it is months if not years of recovery.”Patients who are older, he said, with more medical problems will often have longer recoveries. But that’s not always the case with every patient.“We were quite taken aback that even our young patients — our youngest being 22-years of age that we have already seen in our ICU Survivor Center — even those patients were having a lot of difficulty adjusting back to life after COVID,” Khan said.As we learn more about this virus every day, he encourages anyone feeling any lasting symptoms to seek help. Democrats are beginning to post fundraising totals for Q2 and numbers show that despite the pandemic, donating to Democratic politicians isn't appearing to take a hit. For example, in Montana, Former Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock announced he has raised .7 million to defeat Republican Sen. Steve Daines, who is also expected to raise millions. Montana is shaping up to be a crucial state for Democrats. Currently, Republicans control 53 seats in the United States Senate. It is looking more likely a Republican will win the Senate race in Alabama which means Republicans will have 54 seats. But they must also defend seats in states like Montana, Colorado, Arizona, North Carolina, Georgia and Maine. Democrats believe it is possible to win five of those races, giving Democrats control. Democrats would also gain control the Senate if they win four of those races and Joe Biden wins the presidency, since the vice oresident casts tie-breaking votes. MONEY TALKS The biggest sign yet that Democrats are focused heavily on the Senate is the race in South Carolina. Trump ally Sen. Lindsey Graham is up for reelection and his race is generally not seen as a competitive, yet Jaime Harrison, Graham's Democratic challenger, announced he has raised over million. While much focus is being placed on Democrats, Republicans are expected to match Democratic numbers when it is all said and done.
