MANHATTAN, N.Y. — Police took an alleged attempted rapist into custody Sunday after a Saturday morning assault inside a Manhattan subway station, authorities said.The woman, who was headed home from work, was followed off the train and onto the Q train platform at the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street station around 11 a.m. Saturday, NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said. Jose Reyes allegedly pushed the 25-year-old woman to the ground and tried to rape her."It's a heinous act," Harrison said. "It's horrible." Bystanders on the platform rushed over to intervene, and Reyes alllegedly stopped the attack, according to police.A witness took cellphone video of the suspect before he fled the station.The victim suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene, police said.Reyes had been spotted smoking hookah before the alleged attack, Harrison said. He allegedly had several narcotics in his possession. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico has reached a deal with the United States to pay the shortfall in its annual contribution of water from border-area rivers, by transferring rights to water held in border dams that normally supply cities and towns downstream. The agreement announced Thursday allows Mexico to meet the Oct. 24 deadline which, if missed, could have endangered a cross-border water-sharing treaty that greatly benefits Mexico. A person spotted the sheep, burdened with the extra large fleece, and reported it to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or RSPCA.The RSPCA estimates the sheep, who they named Ewenice, had not been trimmed in about four years.Ewenice was checked over, given a haircut, and sent to a new home. About 44 pounds of wool was sheared off.“Carrying such a large fleece for an extended period of time would have had dire impact on this ewe’s welfare and quality of life. It was fantastic to see her transformation after shearing and to send her on to her new home,” said Head of Inspectorate Terry Ness.Fleece must be shorn regularly because sheep are unable to shed. 1057
