Police in Washington, D.C. released body camera video Thursday from the shooting death of 18-year-old Deon Kay.Police said the incident began Wednesday when Kay and his friends brandished firearms on a social media livestream. Officers located where the livestream was taking place, drove to the scene and found the group.Less than 10 seconds after arriving on the scene, Officer Alexander Alvarez fired the fatal shots that killed Kay.According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Peter Newsham, Alvarez was chasing another suspect at the time of the shooting."When he turned around, that's when Deon Kay approached him and displayed a handgun, and in response to that, the officer fired one round," Newsham said. "Unfortunately, Deon Kay lost his life."Alavarez had been with the department for two years prior to the shooting. All officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, which is department policy.Police also said that Kay threw his gun away prior to being shot. Officers found it 90 feet away from his body."I know that he's validated gang member from the area and I know that he's had multiple touches with the criminal justice system," Newsham saod. "I'm pretty sure Deon Kay fell through multiple safety nets before yesterday afternoon."Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said the release of body cam footage doesn't answer all questions in the case, but added that it's a start."When we purchased these body-worn cameras, we knew that they wouldn't answer all the questions, for any incident, but they would tell us you know in some part what the officer or what the public saw at that time," Bowser said. 1653

Pala Mesa, CA (KGTV) -- We are learning more about the bus company involved in Saturday's fatal crash along Interstate 15. An Executive Lines charter bus flipped over, killing three and sending nearly 20 people, including a 5-year-old boy, to the hospital. Federal records show Executive Lines has been cited for several maintenance issues in the last two years. 10News looked into Executive Lines, a company out of El Monte in Los Angeles County. They specialize in charters from Los Angeles to San Ysidro, with many of their passengers heading to Tijuana International Airport. Saturday's charter bus, carrying 21 passengers plus the driver, was headed toward San Ysidro before it crashed on I-15 near Pala Mesa. "The vehicle lost control, veered to the right, obviously traversed this shoulder, and eventually overturned," Officer Mark Latulippe of the Oceanside California Highway Patrol [CHP] said. Witnesses said several passengers were ejected from the bus. CHP confirmed that likely none of them were wearing their required seatbelts. Three of them were pronounced dead on the scene, and nearly 20 were transported to various hospitals. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration [FMCSA], in the last two years, none of the Executive Lines buses were involved in crashes. But out of 19 vehicle inspections for their seven-vehicle fleet, 13 of the checks came back with a total of 26 vehicle maintenance violations. That puts them in the 48th percentile, meaning nearly half of all bus companies have better on-road performance than Executive Lines. 10News also looked into the inspection history of the exact Charter bus that crashed Saturday. PHOENIX, Arizona — It sounds like something out of a horror movie.A colorful beetle that may look harmless, but it secretes a toxin so strong, it can even kill a horse. When it comes into contact with human skin, however, the effect of this toxin can lead to extremely painful blisters.One emergency room doctor described it as a chemical burn.Dr. Joanna Woods can describe that intense pain firsthand."I went through an entire tissue box of tissues crying my eyes out. It felt, not like an itch; it's like I put my arm on a skillet and couldn't take it off. It's just excruciatingly painful," Woods said.Woods says she feels certain she encountered the blister beetle while watching a show at a movie theater."Midway through the movie I started saying, oh I'm starting to feel a little itchy, there must be mosquitoes in here," Woods said.Then she thought it might be bed bugs.  She saw red welts on her arm as she left the movie theater, within hours those welts were turning into big, marble-sized blisters.Welt went to the pharmacy to get medicine, the pharmacist on duty advised her to go to an Urgent Care, and the Urgent Care physician advised her to go to an emergency room.Even in the emergency room, Woods said staff appeared to be stumped by the size of these huge blisters all over her arm."I had nurses in there saying I've been doing this for 35 years, I've never seen his, what is it?"Woods was hospitalized for two days due to concerns over the swelling and treat of infection.KNXV television station reached out to Eric Godinez, the owner of Scorpion King Exterminating, who said he was familiar with the colorful blister beetle."There is a time of year that blister beetles migrate through the Valley, usually through farmlands that contain alfalfa and hay," Godinez said.They are also found in backyards, where they munch on flowers and leaves.Godinez said these beetles would only attack if provoked."If you brush them off or try to squash them, they secrete a toxin that is very lethal. It will stay released for about 2-3 months even after it's dead," Godinez said.He advised leaving it alone if you happen to encounter one in your backyard.Phoenix is home to the "Master Blister Beetle."The bug has wings, and Godinez said it was a short flyer.How it got into a movie theater, or on Woods' skin is still a mystery."I just wished it had never happened. It was excruciatingly painful," Woods said.She is now talking to management at the movie theater to get to the bottom of it.Woods does admit she does have severe reactions to most bug bites, so just like anything, different people can have different reactions if exposed to the toxin from his beetle, but doctors said it lives up to its name, the blister beetle. 2805

(KGTV) - A woman was taken into custody in East San Diego County on suspicion of smuggling methamphetamine with her 6-year-old son in her car, U.S. Border Patrol Agents said Wednesday. The arrest happened about 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Interstate 8 checkpoint in Pine Valley. Agents pulled over the 25-year-old woman who was driving a 1999 Ford Expedition. A K-9 alerted agents to the SUV’s rear door, where they found 65 bundles of crystal meth in the rear spare tire, officials said. The woman, a Mexican national, was arrested. Her son is now in the care of Child Protective Services. Agents said the drugs had a street value of 9,352. 666
