SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The suspect accused of supplying the fentanyl that led to the deadly overdose of a 25-year-old admitted to supplying the drug in court Tuesday. Uriah Odish admitted to selling more than 500 grams of what he knew to be fentanyl between 2017 and the day of the deadly overdose of Tiffany Hansen in 2018. “Every time we have an overdose death, we are going to come looking for the dealer,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “We are using every available criminal and civil tool to combat this deadly epidemic and stop these tragic losses.”“We work every day to save lives and we grieve when we lose a precious soul to drugs,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Karen Flowers. “We will continue to pursue anyone who deals death. Is that you? If so, we are coming and your time will soon be spent behind bars. We are relentless.”The U.S. Attorney’s Office told 10News in a news release it’s working closely with the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration to investigate fatal overdose cases. 1094

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Blood Bank is hosting a Holiday Bowl blood drive during a time of year when donations are typically low. The drive will be held Thursday, November 21 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the SDCCU Stadium parking lot, sections A and B. Donors are encouraged to make an appointment ahead of time, but walk-ins are also welcome. The blood bank says they hope to get several hundred people to donate, because the winter is always a slow time."People get busy, they go on vacation, and blood donation kind of falls off as a top priority," says Blood Bank CEO David Wellis. "The need for blood, though, doesn't decline. The blood bank likes to have a 4-7 day supply on hand. Right now, Wellis says they have about 2 days. They hope Thursday's drive will bring the supply back up.RELATED: With Chargers gone, San Diego Blood Bank plans a more inclusive holiday blood driveThis year, donors will receive a pair of tickets to the Holiday Bowl on December 27. The decision to pair with the football game ties the holiday-season blood drive back to football. For years, the blood bank and the Chargers teamed up for the event. But when the Chargers left San Diego after 2016, they took the blood drive with them.In 2017, the blood bank tried a sports-themed event called "San Diego Cares" to get donations. 700 people gave blood that day.By contrast, the Chargers Blood Drive would get anywhere from 800-2,000 donors. The blood bank hopes offering free Holiday Bowl tickets will help build this event to the same level of success."I think, over time, it will," says Willis. "We've done Comic-Con for 43 years. That started off small and it's giant now. And in the summer we have the annual Padres blood drive that's growing quite nicely."Games and giveaways will also be set up throughout the day. To be eligible to donate blood, participants must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 114 pounds. Donors must also be in general good health. While the blood bank had asked people to sign up for a specific time, they say anyone is welcome to drive in and donate without an appointment.RELATED: San Diego man celebrates 50 years of donations to San Diego Blood Bank 2192

In 2015, Stapper, was listed among San Diego's Top 10 Entrepreneurs to watch as a 29-year-old. According to his website, he left Michigan at the age of 20 "and drove to California to chase his dream. 6 months later, he saved 0 while working in a restaurant and purchased a custom decal machine on eBay with a friend.""Stapper has now founded, acquired, and invested in a broad portfolio of businesses and real estate. He currently spends his time acquiring, growing, and investing in companies as one of the Co-Founders and Operating Partners at a boutique private equity firm called Crown Grown," his web site says.Stapper's employees described him as being "more like a brother than a boss" and "was one of the most caring people he’s ever met.""He was a guy that everyday woke up with a smile on his face," said Brandon Blum, who met Stapper eight years ago through the San Diego Entrpreneurs' Organization."He had ambitions like nobody I'd ever seen. Alex Pellegrino, the president of the San Diego Entrepreneurs' Organization, told 10News, "we don't have a statement at this time other than the entire EO community is devastated by this tragedy."Investigators have not yet established the cause of the crash, according to the National Police Service. But according to Bailey, he got a phone call from Baker's girlfriend who suspected weather was to blame."It sounded as though they had been caught up in a wind storm or rain storm and was, in her opinion, likely the source of the problems the helicopter was experiencing," said Bailey.A local news outlet reported Monday that the two choppers had taken tourists to the island, which borders Ethiopia and is known for its colony of Nile crocodiles.CNN reported that air mishaps have become frequent in recent months in Kenya, a popular destination for international tourists visiting the east African nation for its vast wildlife and coastal attractions.Five people, including two Americans tourists, were killed in February after a small passenger plane crashed in Kenya's Mukatano forest. In July, 10 people aboard a small aircraft died after it crashed in the Aberdare forest in the mountainous region of the country.Stay with 10News for updates on this developing story.CNN contributed to this report. 4059
