KFC is running out of ... chicken?The fast food chain has been forced to temporarily close hundreds of restaurants in the United Kingdom after a logistics snafu stopped chicken deliveries.About 800 of the company's roughly 900 locations in Britain were closed as of midday on Monday. Some had opened for business by the afternoon, according to the company's website.KFC, which is owned by Taco Bell and Pizza Hut parent Yum!, said the chicken shortage had been caused by a "couple of teething problems" with its new delivery partner, DHL."We won't compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours," KFC said in a statement.DHL acknowledged that a number of its deliveries had been "incomplete or delayed" because of "operational issues." The logistics company said it was working with KFC to solve the problem.KFC switched suppliers from Bidvest Logistics to DHL last Wednesday. LA JOLLA (KGTV) - A car slammed into the wall of a fire station in La Jolla on Saturday night, narrowly missing firefighters.The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s station 9 on Ardath Lane near Torrey Pines Road. The car veered off the road and crashed into the patio wall of the station, while crews were eating dinner, according to Battalion Chief Joseph Scuri. The car missed the firefighters by about 12 feet. No one was injured.Three people were in the car at the time, but were also not injured. A natural gas line to an outdoor barbeque was hit and severed. Firefighters quickly turned off the gas to the station. SDG&E came out and repaired it. 704

KERNVILLE, Calif. About 45 miles to the west of the quake's epicenter, San Diegan Jose Blanco was watching television on the couch in his parents' home. His three children were playing outside."Banging, jolting, up and down ... eyes were shaking. Just seemed surreal," said Blanco.Blanco says he jumped off the couch and then froze, trying to wait out the shaking."Wow, is this really happening? Just shocked ... Seemed like a good minute. Seemed like forever," said Blanco.When the home finally stopped moving, Blanco ran to his children and found them safe. A few things fell and a few cabinet doors opened, but there was no major damage. In the first few hours after the quake, he felt more than 10 aftershocks. He and his family may not get much sleep."Wondering if there's going to be more, if it's going to keep going," said Blanco.Getting back to San Diego is another concern. A crack that appeared on one of the nearby Highway 178 has been repaired, but Blanco wary of getting on the road. 1005

Kyle Brown is crediting his pitbull Petey with saving his and his family’s lives after a gunman barricaded himself inside him Romulus home on Friday.Michigan State Police said that the incident began as a botched carjacking a couple of blocks from Brown’s home.The suspect took off through the neighborhood, jumping Brown’s fence. “As soon as I made eye to eye contact with him, I could tell by the look in his eyes and by his intent, he knew what he was doing, and it was an opportunity,” Brown said.Petey charged after the suspect. “When the pit bull came out and encountered him he immediately pulled his gun out and shot him,” Brown said. Even with a bullet wound, Petey was still able to chase the suspect out of the yard.Police say they exchanged gunfire with the suspect as he jumped the fence, hitting the suspect twice. The suspect then jumped back into Brown’s yard and went inside his home.Brown’s son and his friend were inside, and Brown tried to get them all out safely. “When he got to the door he pulled for his gun, and I’m communicating with Tommy, ‘Cmon Cmon Tommy. Hurry up.’ Unfortunately, Tommy just froze up,”  Brown said.The suspect barricaded himself inside the home with Brown’s son’s 7-year-old friend, Tommy.Tommy was released unharmed hours later.The suspect gave himself up to MSP. Tommy, Brown and his son are physically OK.Petey had to be put down because his injuries were so severe. “Petey didn’t make it, but you can’t be upset with him. He not only saved my life but he saved our lives,” Brown said. MSP has not released the suspect's name or the charges he is facing. 1657
