A man used electronic purchase alerts from his bank on a credit card he never received, to track down an alleged crook within hours.In the early morning hours of June 21, Josh Blair noticed an alert on his Apple watch confirming a purchase he made at a nearby gas station.But Blair told KSBY he didn't spend at the gas station and, in fact, Blair said he never even received the new American Express card in the mail the purchase was made on.He decided to find out who was using his new credit card around Santa Barbara.Surveillance footage from Blair's apartment complex shows a man unlock the mailbox and withdraw the envelope containing Blair's credit card.After speaking with officials at the post office, Blair said he learned the key to the boxes was lost and the lock had not yet been replaced.Throughout the morning, a series of charges hit Blair's account, all within miles of his home. So after filing a police report, he decided to track the crook himself."I talked to a friend earlier and he said 'OK, be careful.' And I said 'I guarantee I catch him within 24 hours,'" Blair recounted. "It was actually two hours from that time, I remember. I didn't spend much time thinking about what would happen."Throughout the afternoon, Blair raced from business to business as charges appeared on his card, each time, just missing the thief.Then, Blair got a charge alert from the newly opened hotel and restaurant, so he rushed over and spoke to the bartender."He was like 'yea, I'm sure that guy was just here, he just left the bar. I believe he's staying here, let me go check,'" Blair recalled. "He did that then came back and said the guy just ran out in the parking lot. He told me where, so I ran after him and so did the bartender, he helped me out. That's where we caught up with him and basically apprehended him."Blair said he and the bartender held the man until police arrived.Police arrested the man and Blair said police told him there is an arrest warrant for the suspect in nearby Los Angeles County.This story originally reported by Aja Goare on KSBY.co

A group of Las Vegas shooting survivors is coming together to send a very special gift to Jason Aldean. Their goal is to use the gift to ask Aldean to come back to Las Vegas to finish his concert that was tragically interrupted the night of the mass shooting.Tiffany Thomas created a Facebook group called “58 Survivors 1 Last Set." Survivors of the shooting quickly learned about the group and the online community chatted about their stories of that infamous night.“After it happened, all I could think about was Jason Aldean,” said Thomas. “I kept thinking like he was up there, he was on that stage, he was singing for us.”Through the Facebook group, Tiffany met another survivor named Gina McKin. The women came up with the idea to make a Shutterfly book to send to Aldean.McKin took charge of the book and asked everyone to send their favorite pictures of the night before the shooting rang out.The book ended up being 91 pages long to represent Route 91.In the book, McKin dedicated different pages to victims and survivors. Some people wrote messages to Aldean.The 0 book took months to finalize.The group of women are sending the book to Aldean along with a few other special items.They are using the gift to ask Jason Aldean to come back to Las Vegas and finish his set. Their idea is to open the concert up to survivors and victims and families of the victims.“It would just be so bonding and so amazing and so emotional and I think so healing.”Scripps station KTNV in Las Vegas was in touch with Jason Aldean’s communications team about the book.KTNV was told they are excited to see the book but cannot officially comment on if Aldean will be back to perform just yet.The women are putting the package in the mail this week. “I hope that when he opens it, he just sees that we love him and that we know what he’s going through,” McKin said. 1889

A Catholic priest was beaten while praying at his church in Merrillville, Indiana, and authorities are investigating the attack as a hate crime.The Rev. Basil John Hutsko told police he was attacked Monday morning inside the St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church as he was praying in the sacristy.The attacker "grabbed him by the neck, threw him down on the floor and immediately started slamming his head against the floor. Both sides, front and back," Merrillville Police Chief Joseph Petruch told CNN affiliate WBBM.The assailant left Hutsko battered, bruised and unconscious. And during the assault the attacker yelled, "'This is for all the little kids,'" Petruch said.It was an apparent reference to the clergy sex abuse scandal that has rocked the Catholic Church in recent years. A federal judge in California put a temporary stop Thursday to efforts by Stormy Daniels' attorney to depose President Donald Trump and his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen over a 0,000 payout from Cohen to the porn star before the 2016 election.Judge S. James Otero of the US District Court for the Central District of California denied the motion for an expedited trial and discovery process, saying Daniels' attorney, Michael Avenatti, was "premature" in making the motion because Trump and Essential Consultants LLC, the company established by Cohen to pay Daniels the 0,000 to keep quiet about an alleged affair between her and Trump, have not yet filed a petition to compel arbitration, which they have stated they're going to do.Avenatti tweeted that he intends to refile the motion as soon as Trump, Cohen and the company "file their motion to compel arbitration seeking to hide the facts from public view. We expect this any day."In his decision, Otero admonished the parties, writing that "instant litigation is not the most important matter on the court's docket."
