SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego woman has filed a claim against the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department after she says she was groped by one of their deputies.The complaint by the unidentified "Jane Doe" alleges that Deputy Richard Fischer "rubbed and fondled" her on Aug. 20, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.It claims Fischer was sent to her home with another deputy about 3 a.m. for a welfare check, but he returned alone an hour later and asked to be let inside."Fischer lied to her and said he needed to use her restroom," the claim states. "Jane Doe let him into her home, but immediately realized the restroom claim was just a ruse to get in the house."It goes on, "Fischer told the woman he thought she was cute, hugged her for 10 seconds without consent and then rubbed his hands down her torso, shoulders, arms, back and buttocks. After the hug, he told her again he thought she was good looking, then hugged her again; the woman resisted more aggressively the second time.The woman has now filed a million claim against the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.In response, the department has placed Deputy Fischer on administrative assignment.The department responded to the claim in part by saying, “…the department holds all of our employees to the highest standards and is in the process of conducting a prompt and thorough investigation into the allegations.”The woman says she has no surveillance video to back up her claim, but thinks the sheriff’s own technology will provide proof of her claim.The woman said when Deputy Fischer came back to her home, he arrived in one of the department’s marked vehicles, vehicles that have GPS monitoring.Among the allegations against the Sheriff's Department are sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment and infliction of emotional distress.Read the department's full statement below: "The Department has received a complaint and claim from a female adult alleging inappropriate hugging by Deputy Fischer.  The employee was immediately moved to an administrative assignment upon notification of the complaint.  The Sheriff's Department does not comment on pending criminal or internal investigations.  However, the department holds all of our employees to the highest standards and is in the process of conducting a prompt and thorough investigation into the allegations." 2372

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An 86-year-old woman, with underlying health conditions and who had been vaccinated, is the latest flu death in San Diego.The San Diego woman died on Dec. 1 from influenza A and had been vaccinated this season, the County Health and Human Agency said. Officials did not specify what underlying conditions the woman had suffered.This flu season, seven San Diegans have died from the flu. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Albertsons LLC, Safeway Inc., and The Vons Companies, Inc. have agreed to pay at least 0,000 after an investigation by the state Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) over illegal business practices.The investigation stemmed from the grocery stores' "Monopoly" game promotion, in which customers received "Monopoly" coupons toward discounts and potentially prizes. ABC said the violations arose out of sales of alcohol included in the 2018 promotion.The "Monopoly" promotion was held at Albertsons stores, including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Pac N Save, and Pavilions locations.The promotion advertised certain beer brands by MillerCoors as part of the game. Customers received additional chances to win prizes if they purchased those brands, according to ABC."This particular violation gave these retailers a competitive advantage by offering consumers a gift or premium for purchasing alcoholic beverage products," ABC Director Jacob Appelsmith said in a release.ABC filed action against nearly 600 stores across California, accusing the companies of violation several regulations. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was hospitalized Sunday afternoon after authorities say she was bitten by a rattlesnake near the Torrey Pines Gliderport.According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the 33-year-old was hiking nearby trails when she was bitten.The woman was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Air Force pilot killed during the Vietnam war will finally be laid to rest Saturday. Major Roy Knight Jr. died in action in 1967 when his plane was shot down over Laos. In the following decades there were multiple efforts to find his remains. It wasn’t until earlier this year that investigators discovered Knight and used dental records to identify him. “It is remarkable; I can’t believe it happened,” said his son Roy Knight III of Valley Center. Knight’s family had almost given up hope of seeing him buried. “There's a bunch of emotions that happen. First is just enormous gratitude for the people that went in and got him and that we as a nation continued to try to find him.” Thursday, Knight’s remains were taken from Laos to Dallas Love Field on a Southwest flight. In the cockpit was Knight’s oldest son, a Southwest pilot who saw his father leave for Vietnam at the same airport years ago. “We came up with the idea of what if would it be possible, and it required both tremendous effort on the part of the Air Force and Southwest Airlines to make it happen,” Knight said. Knight said his father was and always will be his hero. “The tremendous respect and honor shown my father, and and there's no doubt he earned that as does every one of our armed forces, especially our fallen.” Major Roy Knight Jr. will be buried in Weatherford, Texas. 1382
