SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Residents in an Allied Gardens neighborhood say they woke up to guns drawn and shouts from FBI agents."I literally have goosebumps right now. It's sad," said Shiva Eftekhari.Around 6 a.m., agents executed a search warrant at a home in the 7100 block of Glenroy Street.  Throughout the morning and into the afternoon, agents collected bags and bags of evidence, including a computer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police arrested a man in connection with the murder of a man on the I-15 freeway early Saturday morning.Police said 21-year old Brandon Acuna was in jail for his involvement in the murder of 21-year old Curtis Adams of San Diego.According to jail records, Acuna was booked for murder.Police did not confirm if he is directly responsible for Adams' death.Adams and his girlfriend were driving southbound on the freeway near the northbound I-5 on-ramp in Mountain View at around 2:20 a.m. on Saturday when they spotted a stranded car.The couple stopped their vehicle to help, said San Diego police homicide Lt. Anthony Dupree. Adams exited his vehicle and approached the other car.Someone inside the vehicle opened fire on Adams then fled the scene.Adams, an active-duty service member in the Navy, was taken to UCSD Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Police said Acuna was also involved with an incident that happened 10 minutes earlier in a Mount Hope neighborhood.They say the suspect(s) in that incident shot at a victim after trying to break into his car near 600 Boundary Street. The victim was not hurt.Investigations in both incidents are ongoing. 1240

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Ross Rock, or as locals prefer "The Rock," has had its share of headgear.The lone rock just off the coast from Sunset Cliffs Boulevard has been the target of vandals in the past and has again been crowned, this time by a mermaid.It's not clear how the mermaid was installed on top of the rock. A peace sign, the numbers "2010" — local graduates, perhaps? — a Christmas tree, a tiki head, and at one point, a toilet with a Raiders fan wedged inside have all been found taking refuge from the waves below.It remains unclear who makes the objects or how they have installed them in the past.Time and again, however, Mother Nature or possibly another vandal has removed what's been placed. 1359

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County has seen two flu deaths and more than twice the unusual number of illnesses so far this season, health officials reported Wednesday. County Health and Human Services officials said the number of confirmed flu cases is more than double the past three-year average, putting this year on par with the severe 2017-2018 flu season. Seventy-seven San Diego County residents died of flu complications last season. Almost 10,000 became ill. More than 235 cases of flu were confirmed by Sept. 28, compared to 67 at this time last flu season. “People should get vaccinated now to avoid getting sick and infecting others,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “The vaccine is safe and effective and is available throughout the region.” The flu shot is recommended for everyone over six months old. It takes about two weeks for immunity to develop, according to health officials. Anyone who needs the vaccine and does not have health insurance can go to a County public health center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Results of an audit show the City of San Diego has paid hundreds of millions of dollars in liability claims.From 2010 to 2018, the city had 20,000 liability claims, which has resulted in 0 million in public liability costs. That translates to about million per year to settle or resolve these claims.At the top of that list, as far as the number of cases, involves city vehicle accidents with 2,075 claims, where the city paid .7 million. Also included in this list are trips and falls, with 931 claims and the city paid .7 million towards those liability costs.The City Auditor’s Office also made recommendations to reduce the number of claims. When it comes to trips and falls, they suggested the city focus on fixing the sidewalks in high pedestrian areas. Their data has found people are four times as likely to trip and fall in those areas of the damage to the sidewalk.When it comes to accidents involving city drivers, they believe there needs to be more training for them.The report will now be forwarded over to the City Council for review. 1090
