LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The man accused of gunning down rapper Nipsey Hussle and injuring two other men in South Los Angeles pleaded not guilty Thursday. He would much rather be inside. But according to Infectious Disease Physician Dr. Neha Nanda, if you want to prevent the spread of COVID-19, it technically is safer outside.“It continues to be airborne, as in it sustains in the air for longer than we previously thought. So, if you’re outside, you’re not relying on the ventilation,” Dr. Nanda said.Lopez argues it’s more difficult to follow sanitation protocol outside.“The trouble with being outside is that the wind blows and so we cut hair and it goes everywhere so it’s hard to control hair. Hair, as we know, isn’t always clean,” Lopez said.He’s concerned about hair blowing into his eyes and the eyes of customers – potentially spreading the virus. However, Nanda says there’s no proof of that yet.“Today, we don’t know of any kind of transmission happening by way of our hair strand or hair follicle,” Nanda said.The other issue Lopez states is the lack of control in a parking lot. "They did an exhaustive study about two COVID-positive hair dressers in Missouri who unwittingly saw 139 clients. Not one of the 139 clients got infected.”In the study Eric is referring to, the CDC is outlining the importance of wearing masks since the hair stylists and customers were wearing masks. Hair colorist Gino Rodney argues mask wearing in addition to their sanitation training should be enough to keep clients safe.“We train for 1600 hours just to be licensed in sanitation, disinfection and sterilization,” Rodney said.Nanda says that does make a big difference, but the challenge right now is that COVID-19 numbers are just too high.“That’s great, kudos to them, and that’s the training they can leverage when they’re outside. Each state is trying to balance the health of human beings, as well as their economic wellbeing. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The search continued Monday for a man suspected of punching a 47-year-old man at a Dodger Stadium parking lot and seriously injuring him, leaving him on life support at County/USC Medical Center, according to his family and media reports. Rafael Reyna, a father of four, was identified by his wife, Christel, in multiple media interviews as the man who fell to the ground when he was punched and suffered a fractured skull as the crowd was leaving following the Los Angeles Dodgers' 5-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks at the end of 13 innings early Saturday, in the longest regular-season game in Dodger Stadium history -- 6 hours, 5 minutes. She told NBC4 she was on Facetime with Rafael Reyna when she heard a woman yell ``Why did you do that?'' as a man approached her husband and cursed at him. Then she heard a crack and the screen went black. She said her husband has swelling and bleeding on the brain. Later in an interview with ABC7, Christel Reyna made a tearful plea for anyone who saw what happened to contact police. ``Somebody needs to come forward,'' she said. ``I know people saw it. I heard them.'' She and an adult son have been with her husband at the hospital, but Christel Reyna said she has not told her younger children, ages 11 to 15. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The captain of the Conception, a Santa Barbara- based dive boat that caught fire last year near Santa Cruz Island, resulting in the deaths of 33 passengers and one crew member, was indicted today by a federal grand jury in Los Angeles on 34 counts of seaman's manslaughter.Jerry Nehl Boylan, 67, of Santa Barbara, was named in the indictment that alleges Boylan, as the captain and master of the vessel, ``was responsible for the safety and security of the vessel, its crew, and its passengers.''Each of the 34 little-used seaman's manslaughter counts carries a penalty of up to 10 years in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.Federal prosecutors informed Boylan's attorneys of the indictment after it was filed, and the defendant is expected to self-surrender to federal authorities in the coming weeks.The indictment alleges that Boylan caused the deaths of 33 passengers and one crew member -- including two Santa Monica residents -- ``by his misconduct, negligence, and inattention to his duties.''Marybeth Guiney and Charles McIlvain, diving enthusiasts who lived in the same Santa Monica condominium complex, were among the nearly three dozen people trapped aboard the Conception when it sank amid a three-day Labor Day weekend diving trip to the Channel Islands.The indictment cites three specific safety violations: failing to have a night watch or roving patrol, which was required by the Code of FederalRegulations and for over 20 years was a requirement in the Conception's Certificate of Inspection issued by the U.S. Coast Guard; failing to conduct sufficient fire drills, which are mandated in the CFR; and failing to conduct sufficient crew training, which was also required by the CFR.The 75-foot, wood-and-fiberglass passenger vessel docked in Santa Barbara Harbor.
