PARADISE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Pacific Gas and Electric could face murder or manslaughter charges if it were found responsible for starting the deadly Camp Fire, according to CNN. The company could face a range of criminal charges if any of the wildfires broke out as a result of improperly maintained power lines. Potential charges range from misdemeanors related to clearing vegetation around power lines to "homicide offenses like implied-malice murder and involuntary manslaughter."Attorney General Xavier Becerra has yet to come to a conclusion about the company’s responsibility in the recent fires. RELATED: New California law helps utilities with wildfire lawsuitsThe company responded by saying it’s determined to do everything it can to reduce wildfire risk: "PG&E's most important responsibility is public and workforce safety. Our focus continues to be on assessing our infrastructure to further enhance safety and helping our customers continue to recover and rebuild.”The company reported an outage on a transmission line where the fire started 15 minutes before the flames began to tear through the forest. This year, Governor Jerry Brown signed a measure allowing utilities to bill their customers for legal settlements stemming from the 2017 wildfires. The deadly Camp Fire started on November 8 and claimed at least 85 lives. PG&E provides electricity to about 16 million Californians. 1417

PALM HARBOR, Fla. — They call it the Olympics of hair. Every two years top stylists from around the globe meet in a different country for the world championships. Due to the pandemic, this year’s event was canceled, so a salon in Palm Harbor, Florida decided to do their own internal competition. They aren’t just hairdos, they are works of art at Salon Bella Flora.“I kept getting the comments like, ‘Are you kidding me, this is awesome,'” said owner Flora Paskalakis Stoltz. Before Stoltz owned her own salon, she was traveling the world, cutting and combing hair, against the best of the best.“When you are at the world championships, it’s like being in a huge stadium and there’s hundreds of competitors competing at one time and it's intense,” said Stoltz. So as a way to boost staff morale during a difficult year, she decided to hold her own competition. The theme was fantasy.“Let's do something fun, let's get creative juices flowing, let's get inspired, let's get into teams and team work,” said Stoltz. For some of these stylists, it was their first time participating in this type of competition, while for others it was a trip down memory lane.“I was excited to get outside my comfort zone, try new things, do better, be better at what I do, it was really fun,” said Arianna Shuster.“I think it pumped us up, it kind of brought us all together, a few of us didn’t know each other very well so it gave us a chance to spend a lot of time together and learn from each other,” said Katherine Mahinis. They say the key to remember is there are no real rules.“We’re going to do Mother Nature the Root of All Evil, we didn’t go to Michaels and buy branches and leaves, we went to the yard and started picking up stuff,” said Denise RamikIn the end, all three teams were winners, gaining accolades virtually from renowned judges, opening the door to the world championships in Japan next year."I would love to, I wish I can join the team but we'll see," said Rovena Lulaj. This story originally reported by Robert Boyd on abcactionnews.com. 2047

PAUMA VALLEY (CNS) - Authorities Saturday identified a man suspected of ambushing three sheriff's deputies at his home in a rural area near Casino Pauma and sparking an hours-long standoff late Thursday.Jose Nieto, a 28-year-old Pauma Valley man, was arrested for three counts of attempted murder of a peace officer and three counts of assault of a peace officer with a firearm, San Diego County Sheriff's Lt. Rich Williams said.Nieto was being held without bail, under guard at a local hospital while being treated for a gunshot wound he sustained during the standoff, and was expected to be arraigned this week.RELATED: Deputies shot at while responding to call in Pauma ValleyThe standoff began around 4:15 p.m. Thursday when deputies responded to a home in the 15600 block of Adams Drive in Pauma Valley after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he "needed help and didn't feel safe in his home." As three deputies approached the front door of the home, they were met with gunfire, Williams said. The deputies returned fire, established a perimeter around the home and called for backup, including a SWAT team.Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes and surrounding streets were shut down.Authorities spent hours trying to establish communication with the gunman, but when that was unsuccessful, the SWAT team entered the home and found the suspect inside with an apparent gunshot wound to his lower body, Williams said. It was about 10 p.m. by the time the standoff was over. 1501
