A Norwalk, Ohio man and Sunday school teacher is facing charges after having inappropriate sexual contact with a child in a church basement.Kenneth Rose is charged with gross sexual imposition of a child. He was the children's director at Milan Friends Church in Milan Township and had been volunteering there for six months.Rose is being held without bond while the Erie County Sheriff's Office investigates what exactly went on inside the church and if more than one child was involved.Two alleged incidents were reported by one child who was in his program. The girl said both incidents happened while her parents were in regular church service. One happened on Feb. 25, the other on March 18. "There was inappropriate sexual contact, so there was touching involved," Detective Sergeant Dennis Papineau with the Erie County Sheriff's Department said. He said the young girl went to her father and told him what her Sunday school teacher did to her."There was spanking involved," Detective Sergeant Papineau said. It happened in the church's basement, when no other kids were around."When this actually occurred, they were by themselves."Rose admitted guilt to investigators immediately. "He was cooperative with the investigation."Scripps station WEWS in Cleveland talked to the pastor of the church, Paul Campbell, on the phone. He didn't want to go on camera, but said the church is cooperating with investigators and trying to be as transparent as possible. Pastor Campbell said Rose never should have been with children alone, and they still aren't sure how this happened. Campbell said there were no other incidents reported to them. Rose is not listed as a sex offender and does not have a criminal history. Campbell said they're already talking about what they can do to make sure this never happens again. "This is an active investigation, and if there are any other victims we are asking them to come forward," Detective Sergeant Papineau said. 2084

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Within a quiet lab, are scattered fragments of America’s storied past.“I never thought I'd be doing anything like this,” said Kenneth McNeill, an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.He also spent three years in the reserves and now is a part of the “Veterans Curation Program,” which provides training in archiving and archaeology.“I think one thing that happens a lot is that we just exist, and we don't think about things that happened in the past,” McNeill said.In the lab, though, the past is never out of reach.The artifacts come from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who discovered the items at sites across the country during the excavation and construction of major projects, like dams and canals.“The Army Corps of Engineers had a need for people to do this curation work and the veterans have a need to find work and gain new skills and feel comfortable getting back into the workforce,” said Sarah Janesko, administrator of the Veterans Curation Program.The lab spaces are provided around the country by New South Associates, a company which specializes in archaeology and partnered with the Army Corps to train the veterans.“They feel like they're part of this larger mission to preserve our history and the cultural materials that come with it,” Janesko said.In just over 10 years, the Army Corps said the program has trained nearly 700 veterans, with 72% of them landing permanent jobs, some with the Smithsonian and National Park Service, while another 19% have gone on to further their studies in college.“It also gives us a sense of purpose, which is something I think veterans sometimes need when they separate from the military,” McNeill said. “We live in an area that has a lot of history to it. A woman -- barefoot and wearing what could be handcuffs -- repeatedly rang doorbells at a number of Texas homes before vanishing into the night.Now police in Montgomery County are trying to identify her and have released surveillance footage of her approaching a home.The grainy video, captured around 3:20 a.m. on Friday, shows a woman walking up to a house and ringing the doorbell. She's wearing a T-shirt, and appears to have some sort of shackle hanging from her right wrist."We were dead asleep in our beds. My husband was woken up by doorbell ring.
