A top ranking member of the Sheriff’s Department is speaking about changes he feels are needed, following the investigation into Assistant Sheriff Rich Miller.On Tuesday, Team 10 confirmed Miller was being accused of inappropriate conduct. Miller is currently using his accumulated time off until his scheduled retirement on March 2nd.Commander Dave Myers, who is running for Sheriff, emphasized women should feel safe to come forward. He used the example of Deputy Richard Fischer, accused by more than a dozen women of sexual misconduct while on duty.“It took after a woman complained… another 13 women to come forward before anything was really done. If we can’t police ourselves within the department, how’s the public going to trust us to do that outside the department?” Myers said.Myers has been with the department for 32 years.“One of my goals is to create that transparency,” Myers said.Sheriff Gore told Team 10 in regards to Miller, “allegations are taken very seriously and given the highest priority.” 1023

A report prepared for the Senate Intelligence Committee said Russian social media efforts to meddle in the 2016 presidential election included messaging in support of the Green Party 2016 presidential nominee Jill Stein.CNN obtained the report, prepared by New Knowledge, which said the Russian government-linked Internet Research Agency -- a well-known troll farm -- utilized all major social media platforms, and its efforts online included messaging in support of Stein's third party presidential effort.CNN has reached out to Stein for comment on the report.The mentions of Stein online came alongside related and disparate messages noted throughout the report, which said the Internet Research Agency's themes ranged from support for Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders and the Black Lives Matter movement to the Tea Party and gun rights.A summation of the report's findings on "comprehensive anti-Hillary Clinton operations" said while the group's assumed Twitter personas had some pro-Clinton content, "the developed Left-wing Twitter personas were still largely anti-Clinton and expressed pro-Bernie Sanders and pro-Jill Stein sentiments."Likewise, the report said "pro-Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein content" were among the group's go-to themes across other platforms.The report's assertion about support for Stein echoed similar accounts in the past about Russian influence online. An indictment of Russian nationals earlier this year from special counsel Robert Mueller said the online effort included encouraging "minority groups not to vote in the 2016 US presidential election or to vote for a third-party US presidential candidate."Throughout her presidential bid, Stein called for a conciliatory approach with Russia, and she has compared Russian interference in the 2016 election with US efforts around the globe.Earlier this year, Stein told CNN she objected to turning over some documents to the Senate Intelligence Committee. A Nevada Sheriff has taken to Facebook to apologize after leaving her gun in the bathroom of a casino.Nye County Sheriff Sharon Wehrly left her Glock .45 in a restroom toilet stall last week at Saddle West, a hotel, casino and RV Park in Pahrump.Casino General Manager Gregg Schatzman confirmed there was a weapon recovered last week in the bathroom by a porter who was cleaning. He said the porter turned it over to security, who then turned it over to him where it was locked up until the sheriff reclaimed it.Wehrly believes the incident happened last Tuesday or Wednesday but could not confirm which day she left her gun behind. She said she was only separated from her gun for about 10 minutes. She realized it was missing and went back to the restaurant where she'd been having lunch. She says she never left the building."It's a big responsibility to have a firearm and an even bigger responsibility to make sure it's kept in a safe environment all the time. However, people are human and mistakes happen," Wehrly said. "A gun is a tool, and we should always keep track of our tools. I was remiss in this case because I was on the phone dealing with an emergency. I was blessed that someone responsible found it."Schatzman added that there's always a concern when a weapon is left in a restroom. He said leaving a gun, especially a duty weapon, is very, very serious."There was a hole and fortunately we picked it up and so we're in good shape," Schatzman said.He emphasized his high regard for the Nye County Sheriff's Office and their quick response time whenever the casino needs them.Wehrly admitted that this is not the first time she's left her gun behind, though the others, she says, were in the distant past.She recalled a 1984 incident where she left her gun at the U.S. Department of Energy headquarters in Mercury and ended up working an entire shift without it. A North Carolina schoolteacher who disappeared last month while out for a walk in Mexico is dead, according to a post on the verified Facebook page of the Governor of Chihuahua.Patrick Braxton-Andrew, 34, from Davidson, disappeared October 28 after leaving his hotel in Urique. Gov. Javier Corral Jurado, writing in Spanish, said that Braxton-Andrew crossed paths with a drug dealer from the Sinaloa cartel and was killed in a "cowardly and brutal murder."A Facebook page set up to find Braxton-Andrew said that Chihuahua state authorities had confirmed the death and are searching for those responsible to bring them to justice."The family would like to thank the Chihuahua Governor and Attorney General for their unwavering commitment to locating Patrick," a message said on the Find PBA Facebook page."Patrick died doing what he loved — traveling and meeting people. A robbery suspect calls himself a modern-day "Robin Hood," but he’s facing charges after thefts from construction sites in Port St. Lucie.Police said Thomas Paul Sauer, 50, was caught on surveillance video stealing appliances from at least two homes under construction.Security video shows a red SUV pulling up to a home in, a passenger getting out of the car, opening the garage door, then the SUV backing into the garage.On Sunday a Port St. Lucie police officer came across the suspect's vehicle, a 2005 Hyundai SUV, parked in a driveway about two-and-a-half miles away from the robbery.On Monday, detectives went to the home where the suspect's vehicle was still parked. While at the home, detectives met with Sauer who lives at the address. Sauer later admitted to taking a 0 washer and dryer from the first house, and an ,800 refrigerator out of a second house.Sauer told police that "he was like Robin Hood." However, it is unclear if Sauer was intending to give the stolen merchandise to the less fortunate like the legendary English outlaw."This affects consumers, builders and city and we're going out make sure that when people buy a house and they're going to move, in all the stuff is in there,” said Port St. Lucie Master Frank Sgt.
