BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said here Tuesday that China values its relations with South Africa and would like to work together with the latter to expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation and enhance the understanding and friendship between their peoples.     Wang Gang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Blade Nzimande, secretary general of the South African Communist Party (SACP).     China and South Africa have maintained close high-level visits,frequent exchanges, fruitful cooperation, and coordination in international affairs since their diplomatic relations began in 1998, Wang said. HARBIN, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin on Saturday urged new social and economic development in northeast China's Heilongjiang province, in accordance with the country's strategy to revitalize the old industrial base.     Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the requirement during an inspection tour of Heilongjiang from Aug. 26 to 30. He visited local farms, enterprises and research institutes.     He said Heilongjiang, the country's largest production base of commodity grain, should make more efforts on grain production, by further increasing agricultural input and infrastructure construction. "When the Chinese people suffered the devastating earthquake, the Pakistani people expressed concerns, offered relief materials and sent a medical team to us. The Chinese government and people feel deeply grateful," Hu said.     The medical team consists of 28 people. Hu praised them for their excellent skills and all-out efforts.     Hu said the team symbolized the friendship the Pakistani people cherished for the Chinese people and expressed his wish that the friendship would last forever.     The team members said they felt Chinese people's hospitality and vowed to do their best for the quake victims.

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao celebrated the successful return of Chinese taikonauts who had completed the country's third manned space mission on Sunday.     Together with other senior officials and officers at the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC), Wen watched the re-entry of Shenzhou-7 space module to Earth in a live transmission. China's Shenzhou-7 spacecraft's re-entry module lands safely in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.After the module landed in China's northern grassland and the three taikonauts Zhai Zhigang, Liu Boming, and Jing Haipeng moved out of the spaceship by themselves, Wen congratulated the victory with the technical staff members and operators in the center.     Delivering a congratulatory note from the central authorities, Wen said the mission was "a victory of the Chinese space and technological field and a monumental achievement in the socialist causes".
