BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee hosted a symposium here Saturday to solicit advice and suggestions from outside the Party on its document concerning strengthening and improving Party building.     Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, briefed the participants on how the document of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee was weighed and finally formed. He asked them to freely voice their opinions on revising the document.     Chairmen of the central committees of eight non-communist parties and personages without party affiliation like Health Minister Chen Zhu offered their suggestions on issues including strengthening the intra-Party democracy, fighting corruption and improving the leadership style.     "The suggestions are valuable and insightful," said Hu. "They are a reflection of the close cooperative relations between the CPC and the non-communist parties."     "We will study them and try to learn from them," he said.     Hu said that being a ruling party in a country with a population of more than 1.3 billion, the CPC is shouldering an arduous task. The CPC will stick to the principle that the Party exercises self-discipline and is strict with its members. It will strengthen Party building and improve its art of leadership and governance.     Hu stressed that the CPC will work hard to enhance its abilities of resisting corruption, guarding against degeneration and warding off risks.     Members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau Jia Qinglin, Xi Jinping and He Guoqiang also attended the symposium.     The Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee, which was concluded Friday, endorsed the decision of the CPC Central Committee on major issues on strengthening and improving Party building under the new circumstances.     A communique issued upon the closing of the four-day plenum vowed to "expand intra-Party democracy to develop people's democracy" and resolutely fight corruption." It also acknowledged that quite a few problems existed inside the Party that ran counter to new circumstances and to the Party's nature.

BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- China is ready to advance cooperation with Turkey in combating terrorism to better fulfill the common task of safeguarding national unification and territorial integrity and opposing separatism, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said here Sunday.     Yang made the remarks when meeting in Beijing with Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan, who paid the visit to China as special envoy of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The visit "indicated Turkey's political will to further its relationship with China," Yang said during the one-hour meeting, adding China attached great importance to promoting the ties with Turkey.     China was ready to strengthen the bilateral relations on the basis of universally recognized norms of international relations, he said. It had a profound political background.     The riot, taking place on July 5 in capital of the northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, left 197 people dead and more than 1,600 others injured.     Yang said the "East Turkestan" separatist forces' nature and harm was disclosed in the riot as it seriously jeopardized the lives, property of the Chinese people of various ethnic groups, and the local stability.     The measures taken by the Chinese government to deal with the incident according to law won wholehearted support of the local people of all ethnic groups, Yang said.     Caglayan reiterated Turkey's adherence to the one-China policy and its respect for China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.     The two peoples had a long history of friendship, and the two countries enjoyed "sound cooperation" in areas such as fighting terrorism, Caglayan said, adding Turkey would like to keep close contact with China in this area.     "Turkey will endeavor to develop a strong relationship with China, through deepening bilateral cooperation," he said.     Caglayan, who arrived in Beijing Saturday, also said the success of Turkish President Abdullah Gul's visit to China in June had exerted profound influence on the bilateral relations.     During his four-day stay in China, Caglayan was also scheduled to meet Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and visit Xinjiang, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Vice Premier Li Keqiang also attended the meeting.     The meeting discussed and passed a guideline on maintaining stable and fast economic growth in the western regions amid the global economic downturn.     The government would carry on with its policy to develop the western regions as the policy proved effective in boosting economic and social progresses there in the 10 years since its launch. NANJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has called on authorities at various levels to step up patriotic education in the run-up to celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.     Liu, also a member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks during a recent inspection tour in the eastern province of Jiangsu.     Liu said patriotic education should serve the development and stability of China's reform, and should be included in the process of tackling the global financial crisis, and maintaining the country's steady and relatively fast economic development.     He urged the authorities to incorporate patriotic education into the daily life of the Chinese people, to "turn their love for the country into concrete actions."     Patriotic education should focus on China's youths and teenagers, Liu said, adding that the development of "red tourism", which mainly consists of visiting sites related to the history of the CPC and its armed forces, should also be highlighted.
