PARKER, Colo. – The Douglas County (Colorado) Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an infant that occurred at an unlicensed daycare facility in Parker.The infant was pronounced deceased Wednesday at Sky Ridge Medical Center.“We do have an open death investigation of an infant at 14166 Lexington drive in Parker. The status of the daycare facility is something that we will be looking at during the investigation,” read a statement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.Madlynn Ruble with the Colorado Department of Human Services said the state was aware of an unlicensed and illegal childcare service being operated out of the home after a complaint was filed.The department served a cease and desist order to Amanda Anderson, who is alleged to have been running the daycare service. It’s unclear if any charges were filed.In the complaint, police noted that there were 16 children in the home at the time of incident -- most of the children were toddlers.The coroner’s office has legally identified the infant and an autopsy has been completed. The K-12 school for high functioning students with autism just had an important gift taken away.It's an empty field right now but the plan was for Gateway Academy to remove all of the bushes and gravel to make room for a brand new adaptive playground. The cost of entire project would be picked up by a very generous donor."We thought we had found an angel who understood the population and who's ready to give generously," said Robin Sweet, the school's executive director. "Not so much."That donation, ,000. How much the school has seen of that money? Nothing."Before I signed the purchase order I called him again just to make sure," said Sweet.That donor backed out. Now the school is left with a massive bill, a playground that's sitting in storage on pallets and students who are disappointed."Guess what,  don't see anything out here," said Joseph, an eighth grader at Gateway.  "It's not just to have fun. Police in Wisconsin have confirmed two cases of tampered Halloween candy throughout the state.In Arcadia, Wisconsin — a town located near the Wisconsin/Minnesota border — police confirmed that at least one child found needles in multiple pieces of Halloween candy.The needles were not visible until the candy was opened and broken in half. In both instances, the needles appeared to be sewing needles.Police say the incident happened sometime during trick-or-treat hours, between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. They've warned parents in the community to check their children's candy.A few hundred miles away in Neenah, Wisconsin, police reported that nails were found in three pieces of Halloween candy.A spokesman for the Neenah Police Department said that a mother found three Kit Kat candy bars with nails protruding from them in her son's candy stash.Police suspect they can narrow down the house where the boy was given the candy, but did not say they were investigating any suspects.It's the second straight year in which a nail was found in a Neenah trick-or-treater's candy. A child found a nail hidden in a Tootsie Roll in 2016. No arrest was made in that case.Police are encouraging Neenah parents to inspect their children's candy for anything suspcious.Those reports comes just days after police in Randolph, Wisconsin — located about three hours east of Arcadia — say that a child in town received a piece of tampered candy while trick or treating on Saturday.According to police, the child received a Now and Later that appeared to have been soaked in motor oil or some other foreign substance.
