NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The U.S. government will try to stop a company's planned salvage mission to retrieve the Titanic's wireless telegraph machine. Federal attorneys are arguing the expedition would break federal law and a pact with Britain to leave the iconic shipwreck undisturbed.In their filing, the agreement with the U.K. says disturbing the Titanic where so many lives were lost should be respected. U.S. attorneys filed a legal challenge before a federal judge in Norfolk, Virginia, late Monday. The expedition is expected to occur by late August. The U.S. government filed its challenge before the same federal judge who ruled last month that the salvage firm could recover the radio. Noblesville Schools announced today that Mark Booth will no longer serve as the district's director of special education, following Booth's recent sharing online of a "meme" offensive to special education.The district denounced the post and formally disciplined Booth prior to communicating that he will not return to the special education director role. Booth will shift from the leadership role to one focused on analytical compliance for the district.Booth has been Noblesville's special education director since 2004, championing several innovative and award-winning special education practices including placement of special education students in general education classrooms, strategies to better meet state academic standards, a successful work-study program and leadership in unified athletics.The district will begin the recruiting process for Booth's replacement immediately and a new director will be announced at a later date. NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Orlando Ortega posted a Facebook video of his now-former co-worker, Eileen Marcinkowski, calling him the N-word Sunday. The video has more than 150,000 views.But the owner of the restaurant where the incident took place said the video doesn't tell the whole story. “The lady in the video he actually did hit. She had blood on her face, she was bleeding," said Jane Thursfield, owner of Cactus Jack. Thursfield said Ortega provoked the fight when he punched Marcinkowski in the face after he was let go by the restaurant. Scripps station WFTX in Fort Myers could see no evidence of blood on Marcinkowski's face in the Facebook video. The owner said even if Marcinkowski was provoked, the racial comments were not OK. “No, no, of course not," Thursfield said. "No, we don’t condone that at all.”Other customers, like Johnny Samz, who said he regularly eats at Cactus Jack, agreed. “I don’t think it’s ever good, for anybody to use the N-word," said Samz. "I don’t care what the circumstances are.” WFTX's Jasmine Minor asked since Ortego no longer worked at the restaurant, if Marcinkowski would face the same fate. “She is still working here, yeah," said Thursfield. "I have not been here long and she’s working, but we will obviously address that.” The owner said the incident took place "off-the-clock" and "off business property." New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are imposing a 14-day quarantine on incoming travelers from states with a high transmission rate of the coronavirus."We worked really hard to get the viral transmission rate down, and we don't want to see it go up," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. "So we are jointly instituting that travel advisory today."The travel advisory will apply to states with two criteria: States that have an infection rate above 10 cases per 100,000 people and states where 10% of the total population test positive.
