SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person died and two others were injured, and Coast Guard crews rescued 17 others after a mega yacht collided with a fishing vessel off the coast of Imperial Beach Friday night. The 332-foot yacht, Attessa IV, crashed into the 65-foot sportfisher vessel, Prowler, just before 8 p.m. about nine miles off the shore of Imperial Beach, according to the Coast Guard.The collision caused extensive damage to the right side of the Prowler.One man was airlifted to UCSD Hillcrest and died at the hospital, the Coast Guard confirmed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Newly unsealed court documents reveal how investigators were able to identify the suspected Church's Chicken shooter.Albert Lee Blake, 49, was arrested weeks after the shooting erupted inside of the Otay Mesa West restaurant. Blake is accused of shooting three employees and killing Maribel Ibanez. The shooting happened after an argument stemming from Blake allegedly trying to use a fake 0 dollar bill to purchase food. A number of witnesses gave similar descriptions of the man seen shooting inside of the Church's Chicken. Witnesses reported the man coming back into the restaurant after the argument, standing in line, then shooting at employees. They also said he calmly walked away after and got into a blue sedan.RELATED COVERAGE: Court documents reveal details in Church's Chicken murder investigationAccording to search warrant affidavits, surveillance footage from the area revealed the car used by the alleged shooter. Police ran the license plate through their database and found a match. The same vehicle was connected to a stop in September and the driver then was Albert Blake. In the documents the wife, Amy Collins, says the two have been separated for three years, but she allowed him to use the car.She also told investigators that when she asked for the car back, Blake told her she would never get it back and that he would "blow the vehicle up."According to the documents, investigators later went to the girlfriend's apartment in Spring Valley. Blake was captured in Memphis, Tenn., and brought back to San Diego where he was formally charged.The documents don't reveal how he was tracked down to Tennessee.He was charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - President Donald Trump said San Diego "needs a wall" while he toured eight border wall prototypes along the county's southern border Tuesday.During his visit, the president stopped intermittently during his inspection of the structures to discuss the wall and, at times, slam the state over its immigration policies."For the people that say no wall, if you didn't have walls over here you wouldn't even have a country," Trump said at the prototypes. "And, by the way, the state of California is begging us to build walls in certain areas. They don't tell you that."Trump went on to view more of the prototypes, before stopping once again to discuss the new structures."A part of San Diego needs a wall, they want a wall very desperately," Trump said. "They're willing to do anything to get it. I said 'nope, approve the whole wall, California.'"Trump said he favors a wall with see-through capabilities with steel and concrete. He added that Border Patrol had "done a fantastic job" in constructing the prototypes.The president was asked about comments from California Governor Jerry Brown, who has slammed Trump's border wall and called for other projects to receive funding."I think Gov. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More than 50 free health classes could come to community centers and libraries across San Diego. It would be part of a sponsorship deal the city is considering with Sharp HealthCare, in which Sharp would pay the city 0,000 a year for the right to market as the city's "Health and Wellness Partner."Sharp currently offers classes, many of them free, but most are at Sharp facilities.This arrangement, going before a city committee Wednesday, and ultimately before the City Council, would call for six free classes a year in each of the nine council districts, from Otay Mesa to Rancho Bernardo. Dr. Eunice Sanchez-Mata, of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, said patients usually see her once or twice a year."We're here educating them as best as we can, but really that education should be year long," she said. The classes would impart key information on ways to prevent heart disease, quit smoking, live with diabetes, and manage stress. Topics would be geared to different areas of the city. . The three-year deal would be the city's first of its kind. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Poway residents are once again voicing displeasure with the owner of the now-closed Stoneridge Country Club. Thursday, crews from Big Trees Nursery began removing dozens of trees from the property."I couldn't believe it," neighbor Brian Edmonston told 10News. "I thought it was outrageous and it was a cruel thing to do."In 2017, owner Michael Schlesinger backed a ballot measure which would have allowed him to build more than 100 condos on the land.  The day after Poway voters rejected the plan, Schlesinger closed the club.Poway City Councilmember Barry Leonard told 10News that because the land is private property and the trees being removed are not "native trees", Schlesinger is within his rights to remove and sell the trees.Leonard also said that because Schlesinger terminated water service to the property, he would rather see the trees removed than die. 908
