TORRANCE (CNS) - General Motors and Honda Motor Co. announced Thursday they have signed a memorandum of understanding toward establishing a North American automotive alliance.According to a jointly issued statement, the "scope of the proposed alliance includes a range of vehicles to be sold under each company's distinct brands, as well as cooperation in purchasing, research and development, and connected services."Honda, with North American headquarters in Torrance, and GM "would collaborate on a variety of segments in North America, intending to share common vehicle platforms, including both electrified and internal combustion propulsion systems that align with the vehicle platforms."Co-development planning discussions will begin immediately, with engineering work expected to begin early next year.The announcement builds on the agreement signed between the companies in April to jointly develop two all-new electric vehicles for Honda based on GM's global EV platform powered by Ultium batteries.The GM-Honda relationship, which began more than two decades ago, includes recent collaborations on fuel cells, batteries and the Cruise Origin shared autonomous vehicle."This alliance will help both companies accelerate investment in future mobility innovation by freeing up additional resources. Given our strong track record of collaboration, the companies would realize significant synergies in the development of today's vehicle portfolio," said Mark Reuss, president of General Motors."Through this new alliance with GM, we can achieve substantial cost efficiencies in North America that will enable us to invest in future mobility technology, while maintaining our own distinct and competitive product offerings," said Seiji Kuraishi, executive vice president of Honda Motor Co. Three men have been banned from Yellowstone National Park after a park ranger caught them cooking chickens in a hot spring.Back on Friday, Aug. 7, a park ranger was alerted that a group of men with cooking pots were hiking toward's the park's Shoshone Geyser Basin, the East Idaho News reported. Shortly after that, the ranger found two whole chickens in a burlap sack in a hot spring and a cooking pot nearby.According to the Associated Press, when defendant Eric Roberts, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, was asked about what the group was up to, he said they were making dinner.Of West Valley City, Utah, Dallas Roberts and Roberts were ordered to serve two days in jail and pay 0 in fines and fees, and Eric Romriell, of Idaho Falls, paid ,250 in fines and fees, the AP reported.According to the AP, the men are banned from Yellowstone while serving two years of unsupervised probation.As for whose idea it was, Eric Roberts said it was a "joint thing," the AP reported.According to the park's website, the hot springs have "injured or killed more people in Yellowstone than any other natural feature." (KGTV) – A U.S. Army veteran who has been living in Mexico for the past eight years found out Thursday that he is being granted citizenship.Hector Barajas was granted a full pardon by Governor Jerry Brown in 2017 for a conviction that led to his deportation, according to the ACLU.In 2001, Barajas was convicted of shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and sentenced to prison, leading to the deportation.Barajas has been waiting for a decision since he passed the English and civic portions of his naturalization requirements in 2016.RELATED: U.S. army veteran fights to return after deportation?In 2017, Barajas filed a lawsuit in an effort to compel officials to make a decision on whether or not to grant him citizenship. The lawsuit was dismissed after the Department of Homeland Security made their decision.Barajas was born in Mexico but raised in Los Angeles since the age of seven. In 1992, he became a lawful permanent resident and, after graduating from high school, enlisted in the army in 1995.Barajas will be sworn in as a citizen in San Diego. 1088
