SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Upset parents are scrambling after the owner of a beloved preschool and daycare says she will be forced to shut down in a few weeks. ?18-month-old Merrick lights up when he goes to his daycare. More than a year ago, Brie Way enrolled her son at Intelli Children, both a daycare and preschool."It's not just a place. It's a home for kids," said Way.The home for more than 70 kids could soon be closing its doors."I feel sad for the children, parents and staff," said Carol Wilson, owner and director of Intelli Chidren.Ceiling stains in many of the classrooms mark the problem. Wilson says the leaky roof she noticed when she moved in eight years ago turned into big problem with this winter's rains, when several floods for them to cause of several occasions. According to Wilson, walls had to be cut out in most of the classrooms. Wilson says after the landlord declined the necessary repairs, she paid for the repairs so she could stay open. She then stopped paying rent early this year."The business was not viable anymore," said Wilson. She says negotiations stalled when her landlord declined a permanent fix and told her she had to close the school in early August. For Way, a single mom, panic is setting in. Affordable, quality child care is hard to find and she fears she'll be in the same boat she was a year ago."I called from Escondido to Oceanside, and found myself on 30 waiting lists ... It needs to stay open. There aren't a lot of good schools like this in the area. It would devastate the community I believe," said Wilson. The landlord declined comment, contending 'eight months of back rent' are still owed him. Wilson says it's closer to five months and she's willing to pay it if the repairs are done.Wilson says she and her husband are at retirement age and would not be opening the school at a new location. 10news has learned someone has stepped forward and expressed interested in taking over the school. More details could be learned next week. 2012

With gyms across the country closing their doors during the COVID-19 crisis, many members are starting to feel the itch to exercise.“There’s a hole in my day now,” said mechanical engineer Scott Noble. To help fill that athletic void, Noble’s go-to gym, the YMCA is now offering dozens of virtual fitness classes for free.“Having it on your phone makes it possible no matter where you are,” said Caitlin Stackpool, YMCA Director of Community-Integrated Health. “So, for people who are starting to feel cooped up, this is going to give them another option to be active at home.”Stackpool is the Y’s director of community integrated health, and she also holds a Masters Degree in exercise science. Her focus is usually on face-to-face fitness; however, following the coronavirus shutdown -- she’s working on new ways to keep members moving during this time of self-isolation and social distancing.“Since we know that our members in the community are stuck inside, we wanted to make sure we had virtual options available,” she said. “So, we have Y360, which is fitness classes online led by YMCA instructors.”With more than 3,000 YMCAs across the country and tens of thousands of members, these kinds of online classes are helping people find their flow. Now other fitness experts are catching on. Personal trainer and group exercise instructor Josh Gamble (@joshgamblefitness) has been helping people improve their health for the past 15 years. When his gym in Nashville closed for coronavirus concerns, he took his classes online, providing live streaming workouts for his clients on YouTube.“In a sense, some of them are stuck at home,” Gamble said. “This gives them the chance to do something different and interact with people in a sense even though they’re not physically there, and they’re doing live.”Each day gamble focuses on different muscle groups, says no equipment is needed and that people don’t need more space than a yoga mat for a good workout.“Everyone was starting to panic when they found out we were going to have to close down, and they were nervous,” Gamble said. “It makes me feel great that so many people seem to enjoy. For people like Noble, these online fitness classes provide movements and motivation to help stay fit while stuck at home.“To have an hour where I’m just lifting weights and working hard and sweating and not thinking about things, it makes a big difference,” Gamble said.Significant differences are physically, mentally, and emotionally.“I’m a lifelong exerciser,” Gamble said. “It makes me happy.” 2550

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A Philippine Airlines flight returned to Los Angeles International Airport Thursday after experiencing engine trouble, giving passengers a scare as flames belched from one of the Boeing 777's engines. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An Otay Mesa father and dog owner says he did a double-take after he says surveillance video revealed who was hurting his dog.Wherever Pupa the poodle mix goes, little Alfonso Jr., 3, and Regina, 1, usually follow. Their father, Alfonso Galindo, calls the 7-year-old rescue a beloved member of the family, which is why his recent discovery was so tough to swallow."It's heartbreaking," said Galindo. It all started when the strange stains that have been appearing for months appeared again last week in the patio of his home on Agosto Street. He checked his recently installed cameras and couldn't believe what he saw."I'm at a loss for words," said Galindo.Just after 11 a.m. last Tuesday, surveillance video shows a postal carrier walking up to Galindo's mailbox and past the metal front gate. Behind the gate is Pupa, and as the mail carrier places the mail in the mailbox, a cylindrical object is seen in his left hand. At the same time, from another camera, Pupa is seen behind the gate beginning to convulse for several minutes."The dog is withering in pain ... makes me sick to my stomach," said Galindo.Galindo said he searched through his videos -- about a month's worth --- and found nine similar incidents where his dog convulses after the postal carrier walks by. Galindo believes the mail carrier was casually and quickly spraying the pepper spray at Pupa's face."It's a total betrayal of the trust. You would think the Postal Service is somebody you can trust," said Galindo.Galindo went through the last few months in his mind. Pupa did sometimes turn up with red eyes, but it would always go away. But was someone else in the home hurt? In the last six months, both of Galindo's children -- who are constantly touching and hugging Pupa -- have developed mysterious respiratory problems."Countless trips to the ER and urgent care, and countless medications," said Galindo.Galindo now believes he knows the cause."I get livid thinking about it. This is the health of my children," said Galindo. He's filed a complaint with the U.S. Postal Service, along with a police report. "I believe what he's done to our family is criminal," said Galindo.A spokesperson with the San Diego District of the U.S. Postal Service issued this statement on the matter: 2289
