(KGTV) — U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton joined troops at the U.S.-Mexico border in San Ysidro Thursday ahead of the potential arrival of a migrant caravan.About 1,100 Marines were deployed in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, according to 2nd Lt. Fredrick D. Walker, public affairs officer for Special Purpose Marine Ground Force Task 7.Specifically, Marines were working alongside 93rd Military Police Battalion soldiers from Fort Bliss, Texas, to harden fencing in the area to "make it less scalable," Walker said.10News live video from the border:The deployment is part of a larger effort to place troops at the southern U.S. border ahead of the expected arrival of a migrant caravan from Honduras. The operation was originally dubbed "Faithful Patriot," though that name has since been dropped.According to the Pentagon, there are currently 1,300 active-duty troops deployed to California in support of border operations. Overall, 5,600 active-duty troops have been deployed to California, Texas, and Arizona.Camp Pendleton and Miramar Air Station were expected to house troops in support of the border operations. (KGTV) - A SWAT team was called to a San Marcos apartment complex Tuesday morning after a man suspected in a stabbing incident barricaded himself in an apartment unit.San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials said deputies were called to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Knoll Road shortly before 2:30 a.m. in response to an argument that escalated into a stabbing.According to sheriff’s officials, deputies arrived to find a 49-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.Officials did not immediately release additional details on the altercation.Responding deputies spotted a man believed to have been involved in the stabbing and attempted to make contact with him, but he ran into an apartment unit and barricaded himself.A SWAT unit surrounded the complex after the man refused to come out.At around 8:30 a.m., sheriff's officials said the man surrendered without incident and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility for attempted murder, officials confirmed.Late Tuesday afternoon, sheriff's officials identified the suspect as 20-year-old Saul Resendiz Jr., the victim's son. 1236

SANTEE. Calif. (KGTV) - Two dogs have died after a fire broke out in an East County home.The fire broke out at a home on Big Rock Road and Rancho Fanita Drive just before 2 p.m. Wednesday. The fire started in the home's kitchen, according to Santee Fire Department crews.Neighbors said they first saw smoke and though the fire was in a large field behind the home, before realizing it was in a corner of the house.One neighbor reportedly ran over and called the home's owner, who was not home but told the neighbor her dogs were inside. The neighbor broke a window out and tried to get into the home to save the dogs but was pushed back because of the thick smoke.Santee Fire arrived and broke into the back of the home to put out the blaze. Crews found the dogs and performed CPR and gave them oxygen but they had already died.Crews said the neighbor was right not to enter the home if the smoke was as bad as described. The cause of the fire is under investigation.The owner of the home reportedly lives there with her daughter and son-in-law. 1073

(KGTV) -- A man was arrested over the weekend after a sideshow on the San Francisco Bay Bridge created miles of traffic.In video posted on social media, three cars are seen doing donuts in the middle of the bridge around 10:45 a.m. Sunday.One of the drivers, Gabriel Mora, 21, crashed his white mustang convertible, giving California Highway Patrol to make the arrest.Hours later, several other cars were caught on video burning rubber in the parking lot of pier 30 just south of the bridge.Residents who live in the area say they often call police about the car shows, but say they usually happen late at night. Police said the incident on the bridge caused traffic to back up for miles. 718

(KGTV) -- A broken water main damaged a Santee street and flooded at least one nearby business early Friday morning.At around 3:45 a.m., authorities were called to Prospect Avenue and Cuyamaca Street in response to a water coming out of the roadway.The water blasted out of the street and flooded an auto repair business. At least six vehicles were partially submerged due to the rising water.By 4:15 a.m., authorities were able to shut off the water and begin road repairs.A city official said they believe the overnight temperature change may have caused the water main break.ABC 10News learned repairs are expected to last throughout the day.The public is asked to avoid the area of Prospect Avenue and Cuyamaca Street, as lanes have been closed. 772
