Motherhood is more than a full-time job. In fact, on average mothers work 58 hours over the standard full-time job, and they don't even get paid overtime.A study found that a working mom clocks in 98 hours, making it equivalent to working 2.5 full-time jobs.Welch's conducted a study of 2,000 American mothers with kids between 5 and 12-years-old. On average, a mother starts her day at 6:23 a.m. and doesn't conclude duties until 8:31 p.m, working a 14-hour day, seven days a week.According to Working Mother, moms only average about an hour and seven minutes to herself a day, spending the rest of the day doing things for others. Forty percent of moms feel that their life is never-ending, considering a week has only 168 hours and they're working 98 of those hours.Luckily, moms have things to help them get through their long days: Wet wipes, kids' TV shows, tablets, drive-thru meals. Additionally, grandparents and babysitters made the list and of course, wine and coffee."Busy moms may identify with the list of ‘lifesavers,' which highlights not just a rigorous workload but a constant requirement to feed and fuel the family, week in and week out,” said Casey Lewis, MS, RD, and Health & Nutrition Lead at Welches.  1252

MONT BELVIEU, Texas — A Texas judge has ruled a school district’s hair policy is discriminatory after two Black students were suspended for their dreadlocks. According to KTRK-TV, the decision from the judge for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas came late Monday. The policy was at the center of controversy after a senior at Barbers Hill High School was suspended in January. District officials said it wasn’t about race or that dreadlocks weren’t allowed, just that his in particular were too long. The student was told he could not return to school or walk at graduation unless he cut his hair. He argued that his dreadlocks were part of his Trinidadian heritage. He and another student filed grievances on Jan. 27, followed by a lawsuit. Last month, the school board voted not to change the policy. 833

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Grammy-winning country group The Dixie Chicks have dropped the word dixie from their name, now going by The Chicks. The group made of Martie Maguire, Natalie Maines, and Emily Strayer posted a statement on their website saying they wanted to meet "this moment."The group also acknowledged that there was an existing band in New Zealand that allowed them "to share their name." The move follows a decision by country group Lady Antebellum to change to Lady A after acknowledging the word's association to slavery. That band received criticism with their switch after a Black singer revealed she'd been performing as Lady A for years. 664
