WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama will visit China in mid-November in a four-nation Asia trip from Nov. 12 to 19 which will also take him to Japan, Singapore and the Republic of Korea, the White House said on Wednesday.     Obama is due to be in Japan on Nov. 12-13. Following his visit to Tokyo, Obama will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Singapore before heading to China and South Korea, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters. The two countries clinched an array of cooperation documents, including agreements and memorandums on natural gas, oil, an express railway, the space industry and nuclear energy.     Although the bilateral trade volume shrank, both sides' position in each other's foreign trade ties became more prominent and the trade structure is improving gradually. Progress has been made on investment cooperation and more joint projects such as lumber processing, resource exploitation and infrastructure construction have been carried out on Russian territories.     In particular, the two countries are pushing forward large-scale oil and gas projects in a steady manner. The launch of the China-Russia oil pipeline project marked a new stage of long-term and strategic cooperation in the oil sector. The two sides will also advance gas cooperation in accordance with a memorandum of understanding on gas cooperation reached in June.     Meanwhile, the two states are fulfilling an outline of regional cooperation between Northeast China and the Russian Far East Area and Eastern Siberia, which envisions prosperous cooperation between border regions.     The economies of China and Russia are mutually complementary and in a critical phase in development. As long as they plan from a long-term perspective, display their strengths and cooperate closely, they will overcome the current difficulties and realize a win-win situation.     BEEFED UP CULTURAL COOPERATION     On Tuesday, Putin and Wen attended an evening gala to mark the 60th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. They also celebrated the success of the Year of Russian Language in China. ISLAMABAD, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari said here Friday that he is proud of Pakistan's brotherly relationship with China and wishes the Chinese around the world well.     Zardari was the chief guest at the National Day reception hosted by Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui at the Chinese embassy.     Replying a question by Xinhua on his arrival, Zardari said, "For the Chinese around the world, I wish them well. I wish them their independence and I applaud the success."     He also said, "I'm proud of the friendship which we have with China. And I'm proud of our brotherly relationship. And I'm with them in this moment of happiness. BEIJING, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo met here Monday with Speaker Luka Bebic of the Croatian Assembly, vowing to facilitate closer parliamentary exchanges and cooperation between both countries.     "China highly values its relations with Crotia, and regards the country as a reliable good friend and partner in southeast Europe," Wu told Bebic in Beijing. He vowed joint efforts with the country to cement bilateral exchanges in all fields to build better future for both sides. Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), hailed the progress of bilateral ties since the forging of diplomatic ties 17 years ago, citing frequent high-level visits, remarkable trade cooperation and increasing exchanges in cultural, technological and educational areas. LONDON, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Finance Minister Xie Xuren said on Friday that the current economic stimulus measures should be maintained to ensure economic recovery and growth worldwide.     After a BRIC-country meeting held in London, Xie told a news conference that the four countries are now at a key stage of economic recovery, and should strengthen their coordination of economic policy.     The finance ministers and central bank governors of Brazil, Russia, India and China, the so-called BRIC countries, gathered in London on Friday to discuss the current situation of the world economy, as well as their governments' fiscal and monetary policy responses.     Xie stressed that promoting the reform of international financial institutions is a common consensus reached at the G20 summit held in London in April, adding that "we must put it into practice in accordance with the timetable."     The Chinese minister also called on the international community to attach great importance to the imbalance between the North and the South, and to further help developing countries realize common development, so as to achieve a fundamental balance and sustainable growth of the global economy.
