SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died Saturday night following an officer-involved shooting in El Cerrito. Police say they received a call just before 8 p.m. from a 70-year-old woman who said her 52-year-old nephew attacked her with a brick at a home on the 5800 block of Adelaide Avenue. Two officers responded to the scene and found the woman, who they say had been hit in the head and chest. Officers found the man in the backyard of the home and tried to arrest him, but they say he struggled.Witnesses say the suspect then picked up a shovel and started swinging at police. "He continued quickly advancing on the officers while swinging the shovel, prompting one officer to fire his Taser, while the second officer fired his service weapon," San Diego Police said in a news release. The suspect was struck by gunfire at least once and died at the scene, police say. The man's identity isn't being released at this time. The suspect’s aunt is expected to be okay and no officers were injured in the incident. The department says one of the officers is a four-year veteran of the department while the other is a 16-year veteran. "I just love creation. Creation has always been my thing. I love being very creative, making things from something to nothing," said Caco. "We were ridiculed and made fun of, but the performance was there!" says Caco. The agency tweeted out several photos Monday morning that show the agent with a large cut on his face and what appears to be shattered glass in the patrol car. “Our agents face dangers like this one while maintaining the security of our nation,” the agency said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A girl was killed while walking across Interstate 5 near the San Clemente Border Patrol facility Thursday.It's unclear how the young girl made it onto the roadway. CHP officials said the unaccompanied Hispanic girl was walking northbound on I-5, just south of the border inspection station before 10 a.m.The girl then crossed the freeway, walking westbound through traffic, the CHP said. She was in the number two lane when she was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet driven by a 21-year-old man from San Diego.CHP said the man was driving at about 30 miles per hour when he struck the girl. He tried to avoid her but was not able to apply the brakes in time. He remained at the scene for troopers to arrive.The girl was flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla but died of her injuries.CHP officials did not release a name or age of the girl. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A distinctive pair of sneakers helped San Diego Police find a man suspected of threatening a Pacific Beach bar bouncer with a knife Tuesday.The man went to Open Bar on Mission Boulevard near Grand Avenue at 1 p.m. and said he was going to kill the employee, officers said.Police got a detailed description of the man, which included purple Air Jordan Nike shoes.An SDPD lieutenant who responded to the scene spotted the man - and his sneakers - and officers arrested him near Mission Boulevard and Pacific Beach Drive.Witnesses identified the suspect at the scene.During the search for the knife-wielding man, police said a drunk bar patron jumped on top of a patrol car and stomped on its roof. The man was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism for substantial damage to the SDPD vehicle. 820
