VISTA, Calif. (KGTV)—  Hundreds of volunteers and voters attended the “Moms Demand Action” Rally in Vista.They gathered, rallied, and went door to door, advocating for what they call, “common sense gun legislation.” They featured a special guest speaker, Fred Guttenberg, who lost his daughter to an active shooter in Parkland, Florida this February. With only two days left until the deadline of voter registration, volunteers are ramping up their last-minute pushes. 10News followed a few volunteers on their door knocking routes in Vista. They said every step they took was to garner every vote for their cause. “We need to vote like our lives depend on it, because they do,” Wendy Wheatcroft, California Chapter Leader of “Moms Demand Action,” said. It’s something Fred Guttenberg knows all too well. “My daughter was… my life… she’s gone,” he said. His daughter, Jaime Guttenberg, was 14 years old when she was killed at Stoneman Douglas High School. “When you live through what we’ve lived through, it ain’t easy,” Guttenberg said.Guttenberg said since his daughter’s death in February, his life mission has changed. It is now to get people around the country to the polls, and advocate for what he calls “common sense gun legislation.”“I support the 2nd Amendment,” Gutenberg said. “My father-in-law owns guns. I have no problem with legal gun owners. It is an effort to keep weapons out of the hands who intend to kill others.”That is the message he hopes will resonate with voters across the aisle.“I am here today for one reason. VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Michael Yager says he was outraged after learning his son, Jacob, bullied multiple classmates at New Smyrna Beach Middle School in Volusia County, Florida. "I figured I would teach him a lesson that would embarrass him and make him feel the way kids feel," he said.Wanting to teach his 13-year-old a lesson the frustrated father took an unorthodox approach. "I wrote the sign, I'm a bully. Honk if you hate bullies." Yager drove his son to nearby State Route 442 and parked him on a busy corner.His son had to hold the sign high."Embarrassed and kind of nervous," Jacob admitted.He says it did not take long for people to start honking.  Some even stopped to talk to father and son."I had Edgewater Police stop by, I had Volusia County Sheriffs. I had a good response from the neighborhood," Jacob's father said.But he acknowledged not everyone agrees with his parenting. "I had one woman come up and call me every name in the book. "How do you respond to parents who say putting your son out on the road is, in fact, bullying your own son?" he was asked."In my mind, I was doing the right thing, but I guess you cannot please everybody," Michael Yager said. A recent staggering statistic shows one out of every five students report being bullied. Jacob said he has learned a valuable lesson. "You never know what someone can be going through. Like, if you want to be the bully and if you have something inside you to tell someone go to a guidance counselor or something," he said.  1574

Walt Disney World is extending its parks hours ahead of Halloween weekend.Back on Sept. 8, the park reduced its hours because of a drop in attendance due to the coronavirus pandemic.Well, it looks like Disney has changed course and will stay open an hour longer in most parts of their park.According to the calendar on its website, Magic Kingdom will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.Until recently, it was closing at 8 p.m. on the weekends. Now, it'll remain open until 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in November, as well as on three Sundays: Nov. 8, 15, and 22, according to the calendar.Magic Kingdom will stay open until 9 p.m. throughout the week, beginning Nov. 9 up through Thanksgiving weekend.The calendar also showed that Epcot would close at 9 p.m. on Fridays and 10 p.m. on Saturdays. They both open at 11 a.m.In November, Epcot will stay open until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and three Sundays: Nov. 8, 15, and 22.
