A police officer, a doctor and a pharmaceutical assistant were killed after a Monday afternoon shooting at Chicago's Mercy Hospital, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said.The shooting was a domestic incident, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie T. A study published this week takes a look at just how quickly Covid-19 test results are getting back, on average.Researchers surveyed more than 19,000 people across every state and the District of Columbia during the last two weeks of July. They asked how long people waited to get back test results.Most people, about 63 percent, are not getting their test results back within the one-to-two day window that is optimal for contact tracing.More than 30 percent of survey participants reported they received test results after four or more days.“Rapid turnaround of testing for COVID-19 infection is essential to containing the pandemic. Ideally, test results would be available the same day. Our findings indicate that the United States is not currently performing testing with nearly enough speed,” researchers said in the report of their findings.The average wait time nationwide was 4.1 days.However, there were disparities in wait times when looking at race. According to the study, Covid-19 test results wait times for Hispanics and Blacks are longer, at 4.6 days and 5 days respectively. Compared to wait times for white respondents, which was 3.9 days according to the study.Researchers said there is little sign the wait time for test results is speeding up. A similar survey conducted in April found that the national average wait time was 4.2 days.This study did not look into the causes of the delay in receiving test results. Other reporting has pointed to limited testing supplies, labs being overwhelmed with tests to run, and the time needed to contact everyone with results.On Monday, Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis called some Covid-19 test results “useless” because they are taking too long to come back. Those two included the up-and-coming chain BurgerFi and Shake Shack. A teen missing for more than a year after witnessing a murder has been found alive in an Ohio basement, ABC Dayton affiliate WKEF reports.Police believe Jacob Caldwell, 15, ran away from his grandparents, who were granted temporary custody of him and his brothers, after Jacob witnessed his father being shot and killed. Jacob's mother and her boyfriend are among those who have been charged with murder in connection with the slaying. Jacob was last seen on Aug. 21 2017, in front of a Walmart in Sugar Creek Township, located in Green County, near Dayton. 585

A suspended Buffalo Police officer accused of assaulting a suspect in the Buffalo city lockup has been found not guilty on all charges.32-year-old Joseph Hassett was charged with two counts of third-degree assault, official misconduct, offering a false instrument for filing and making a punishable false written statement in connection to an incident that happened in March 2017.Judge Russell Buscaglia heard a bench trial in State Supreme Court and announced the not guilty verdict Thursday morning.According to investigators, Hassett was recorded on camera allegedly assaulting a drug suspect on March 18, 2017. The suspect was taken to ECMC for a head injury and a cut on his forehead that required stitches. The Erie County District Attorney's Office and the Buffalo Police Department both said they didn't learn about the incident until video of the confrontation was requested by the victim's attorney during the course of his criminal case stemming from the March arrest. 1032
