SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Carlsbad leaders this week approved nearly 0,000 to construct a new trail planned to loop around the city's strawberry fields.Carlsbad City Council voted to add the Hub Park trail to the city's Capital Improvement Program, a 2.4-mile trail on the south shore of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon in an area dubbed "Hub Park."Hub Park sits on land owned by SDG&E. The city has a lease agreement with SDG&E for a portion of the trail, but not the portion that would connect to nearby roads.RELATED: San Diego County park rangers recommend these trails in 2019The city voted to take 4,500 from the General Capital Construction Fund to fund building the eight-foot wide trail.The trail would lead from a new Interstate 5 bridge to a bluff within the leased property that overlooks the lagoon, the city says. A design team will have to conduct an environmental review of the proposed trail as well. It could be another three years before the project sees any construction begin. 1655

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Authorities are searching for a woman who disappeared while driving from San Diego to Victorville nearly two weeks ago. According to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, 53-year-old Izetta Burney went missing on November 24. Burney disappeared while driving home to Victorville after visiting a San Diego spa, a friend tells 10News. According to the friend, Burney’s phone goes straight to voicemail and her credit cards and bank account show no signs of activity. Burney was last seen in Victorville driving a black 2008 four-door BMW with California license plate number 7EXG207. She is described as five feet, 11 inches tall with a tattoo on her right arm and a mole above her lip. She was last seen wearing a black top and black spandex pants. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California Highway Patrol has identified the man who died after slamming into a tree on the Sea World Drive on-ramp Saturday. CHP says 26-year-old Jacob Eugene Arnell was killed when the Cadillac Escalade he was driving at a high rate of speed overturned and hit a tree. The crash happened around 9 a.m. Saturday on the right shoulder of Sea World Drive. Arnell was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. The medical examiner’s toxicology report in pending, CHP says. Arnell was the only one inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. 618

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California has some of the most expensive gas in the entire country, and a new study by GasBuddy also claims the Golden State also has some of the most aggressive drivers.According to the study, California ranks number one with most aggressive drivers followed by Connecticut and Georgia.The study claims those aggressive habits are also costing Californians cold hard cash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — At least three large sharks were spotted off the coast of Torrey Pines State Beach swimming close to surfers in the water on Thursday.California State Parks Lifeguards say they received reports of five sharks swimming about 50 feet from shore and 100 to 200 yards from Lifeguards Tower 1 at about 12 p.m. The sharks were seen specifically gliding around the Flat Rock area, located north of Black's Beach and south of Torrey Pines State Beach, according to a State Parks spokesperson.Sky10 was overhead as the sharks swam nearby surfers who were just offshore of Torrey Pines:Officials say the largest of the sharks, which may have been great white sharks, was about 10 feet in length."The sharks did not interact with any beachgoers during this time. The shark actions are considered non-aggressive and consistent with normal white shark behavior," a State Parks spokesperson said.A San Diego Fire-Rescue Lifeguard made announcements to people in the water about the sighting. Announcements were being made in the area up to one mile south of Bathtub Rock, SDFD spokeswoman Monica Mu?oz said.Shark sighting signs would remain up in the area for 24 hours, officials said. 1198
