(CNS) - Part of Disney California Adventure will open without rides Thursday but plenty of shopping and dining.Billed as an extension of Downtown Disney, Buena Vista Street will be gussied up for the holidays, offering socially distanced outdoor dining at favorite restaurants including Carthay Circle Lounge where Chef Andrew Sutton, culinary director of Signature Restaurants, says Al Fresco Dining at Carthay Circle Lounge will be "like sitting in a European sidewalk cafe.""We literally borrowed tables from some of the other restaurants," he said in remarks reported by the Orange County Register. "Then we started to get more serious about it, bringing in planters, and gardening, and making it look much more refined. The finished product is beautiful."Parts of the park are opening for retail and dining as an extension of the Downtown Disney District. Reservations won't be accepted, but a mobile wait list system will be in place when the restaurant is at capacity.Diners can choose to provide their name and mobile number to receive a text message when it's time to return. Mobile ordering will be available at Smokejumpers Grill and Award Wieners.Buena Vista Street will be open daily 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There's no admission charge to enter and guests can park in the Simba lot as they do for Downtown Disney. An Idaho woman reported to the Nampa Police Department Tuesday night that her 6-year-old son had been given a small bag of marijuana while out trick-or-treating.She reported that she had been going through his candy bag and found the small plastic baggie that appeared to contain marijuana. She brought the baggie to the Nampa Police Department and turned it over to officers.   Nampa Police field tested the substance found in the candy bag and it indeed tested “presumptively positive” for marijuana, said Nampa Police Sgt. Tim Riha.“Officers obtained the route that (the child) took while out trick-or-treating. (The child) had been to several houses in that area, but it is unknown which house provided the marijuana to the trick-or-treater,” Riha explained.  The baggie that contained the marijuana will be sent to the lab for fingerprint testing, he added.The incident is still under investigation.  The Nampa Police Department reminds parents to inspect all candy and items obtained by their kids while out on Halloween.“If any candy looks like it has been tampered with or opened, it is best just to throw the item away. An autopsy has confirmed a man who died after a medical emergency mid-flight last week had COVID-19 and it likely caused his death.The 69-year-old man, identified by the coroner as Isais Hernandez, and his wife were on a United Airlines flight from Orlando to Los Angeles on December 14 when he had a medical emergency. The plane made an emergency landing in New Orleans, and Hernandez later died.The coroner for Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, says Hernandez’s cause of death was “acute respiratory failure, COVID-19,” according to the New York Times.A man trained as an EMT was onboard and began CPR and life-saving measures along with other passengers and flight attendants when Hernandez fell ill.Tony Adalpa tweeted later that he had COVID-19 symptoms after helping Hernandez, and overheard his wife tell paramedics Hernandez had COVID-19 symptoms, including the loss of taste and smell.Adalpa had originally planned on getting the COVID-19 vaccine this week.
