A Tennessee man was arrested after watching ISIS videos, and then lying about his stay at a mental institution when he tried to buy a sniper rifle, according to federal officials.According to a federal indictment, federal agents began looking into Khari Malik Whitehead last year, after they talked to someone who knew him. That person told Metro Nashville Police they were concerned Whitehead was watching ISIS propaganda videos on the internet.They also told the ATF Whitehead may have possibly been radicalized, and that they were afraid that he may commit a mass murder one day.The indictment said Whitehead was committed to a mental institution late last year, but he lied about that in February on a background check form he filled out at the Walmart in La Vergne as he tried to buy a semi-automatic rifle. He asked to purchase a rifle that could "hold a lot of bullets"However, the purchase didn't go through. His stay at the mental institution was picked up by the background check, and Whitehead was denied the purchase.Whitehead's lie on the background check form was enough for federal prosecutors to file charges against him. 1175

A man who claims he worked for Amazon said he quit on the job and abandoned his delivery truck at a metro Detroit gas station.Derick Lancaster, 22, made the post on Twitter Monday.Lancaster told WXYZ he was frustrated with the long hours, number of deliveries, and pay. So, he apparently left the truck, keys, and packages at a Marathon gas station."I'm not encouraging them to but if you fed up you fed up," Lancaster said. "It was immature and irresponsible on my end. At the same time enough is enough."On Tuesday, his tweet had more than 25,000 shares and over 218,000 likes. A Miami police officer has been relieved of duty after a video showed him kicking a suspect in the head, as the man was lying on the ground and getting handcuffed."The video depicts a clear violation of policy," Miami Police Chief Jorge R. Colina said in a statement. "The officer has been relieved of duty and the Miami-Dade State Attorney's office has been contacted."A cell phone video shot by a witness shows a man lying in a yard with his hands on his head. The first police officer approaches him and starts putting handcuffs on the suspect. The suspect, identified as David Suazo in the police report, was not resisting and was lying on his stomach. His hands are being restrained. Suddenly, another officer can be seen running toward him and kicking him in the head.That officer then drops to the ground next to the suspect and appears to put him in a headlock.A woman can be heard expressing shock. A Michigan couple faced discrimination due to their sexual orientation, but because of the state's laws, it’s legal. They’re sharing their story because of a new national campaign called Beyond I Do.The campaign highlights states that are legally allowed to discriminate due to sexual orientation, for things like employment, housing and social services, doctors visits or dining at a restaurant.Jami and Krista Contreras are a couple from Oak Park, Michigan. Three years ago, they became new parents and brought their six-day-old newborn to a local pediatrician, but they were denied care. "Your doctor prayed on it and decided she won't see you all today,” Krista Contreras claims one employee at the doctor's office said.The couple was floored. They said they had personally experienced discrimination for their sexual orientation, but they never though it would directly carry over to their newborn in this way.“We spoke to other people and they would say well they can’t do that… that’s not legal and we looked into it and it was legal,” Jami Contreras said.According to the Beyond I Do campaign, 31 states including Michigan don’t have protections for this kind of discrimination. “It was horrifying and humiliating and we just kept thinking god she's 6 days old and she’s already experiencing discrimination,” said Krista.  1358

A pair of children, ages 1 and 3, were shot inside of a car Thursday evening outside the University Of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, the Jackson Police Chief told the Clarion-Ledger reported. The shooting briefly prompted fears of an active shooter on the university's campus, causing a heavy police response. The Clarion-Ledger reported that one child was shot in the leg, and the other in the torso. Their conditions have not been publicly released. Following the shooting, a female driver transported the children to the hospital. The suspect was still on the loose as of Thursday evening.  655
